What we are about•Steve Hale Goalkeeping School opened in April 2007

with its main venue being Ruskin Junior School.

• Since 2007 there have also been a number of Two Day courses held around the area at the likes of Stratton,

Highworth, Devizes and Cirencester.

• We have also gone out to clubs such as Croft FC, Ashton Keynes FC and Brinkworth Cats FC and worked

with their goalkeepers at their own training venues.

• We are looking for goalkeepers who have a passion for keeping the ball out of the goal in what is a specialised

position on the pitch.

• In a fun and safe environment we want to help goalkeepers of all ages and abilities to better

themselves, strive to be the best that they can and enjoy themselves along the way.

Social Skills

Whether its on a two day course or our regular Wednesday evening sessions the children get the

chance to meet and mix with lots of other children all interested in goalkeeping.

They are encouraged to enjoy themselves but importantly work together and help each other

learn to become better goalkeepers. They get to work in pairs, small groups and also large groups in some team games. This helps them develop their personalities and helps with the ethic of

team-work.

Coach the CoachesSteve Hale

Goalkeeping School have put on courses for coaches, managers of teams and parents.

Often their young goalkeepers are not

given the time or advice and help they

need.

The courses are aimed to give some

understanding of the goalkeepers position

and how help and support can be

provided within the team environment

through classroom and on pitch based work.

Helping Others

In 2011, Steve Hale Goalkeeping School organised a Sponsored Penalty Shoot Out.

This was to raise funds towards a £40,000 operation which 5 year old Robbie Davies, a young Swindon boy needed to try and help

him walk again.

29 goalkeepers took part and 580 penalties were taken with 284 being saved!

A raffle for signed gloves from Swindon Town goalkeepers and an auction for a signed Swindon Town shirt also took place. A

brilliant total of £2055.00 was raised for a worthwhile cause.

Steve has used his contacts at Swindon Town FC to good affect and for the benefit of the children.

An evening was held with the two youth team goalkeepers at the time Calum Antell & Jamie Stephens and first year pro Mark Scott. They were put through their paces by Steve to show the children the standards required at a professional club. They then took a

session for the children and ended the evening answering questions & signing autographs.

On a recent two day course Mark Scott and Jamie Stephens (now at Liverpool FC) helped out with some coaching. Also Swindon Town first team keeper Dave Lucas came along to hand out trophies.

Dave also answered questions, signed autographs and posed for pictures with the children.

There are also goalkeepers that Steve through his position as Academy goalkeeping coach at Swindon Town has taken into the

Academy for trials. Some have been successful and been awarded contracts. One goalkeeper, Conor Thompson who used to be at

Steve’s goalkeeping school has achieved international honours with Northern Ireland and became a scholar at Swindon Town & is now

at Torquay Utd.
