STEROIDS EFFECT ON AMERICAN CULTURE
By Brandon Paquin
Intro to steroids• They help when working out, helps get ripped faster• Causes baseball players to look super human• Supposedly brought into the game by Jose Canseco• Caused over 150 baseball careers to be ruined and statistics to
be tainted• Very easy to get ahold of and be able to be used
GAME O N IN TERN ET THAT IS AN EXAMPL E
“Juiced” internet game is a small example of what steroids were like in baseball.

The Mitchell Report• Over 150 players were in the report for using• Players such as David Ortiz, and Manny Ramirez were listed• Gave the fans closer that their role models were cheaters and
liars
Barry Bonds / Roger Clemens
Both men clearly used steroids according to multiple reports
Bonds went from a skinny kid to a huge muscular home run hitter
Clemens was always big but it was apparent he used when he was throwing well over 95 mph at age 40
Both men now are out of Hall of Fame and are in court for lying to grand jury
Proof of Bonds and Clemens• Barry Bonds Roger Clemens
Baseball on trial
Many players after lying about steroids were put on trial
Players such as Mark McGuire, Rafael Palmeiro, and Sammy Sosa
How it effected America• Fans are seeing their sport heroes in court and are no
longer role models• Can lead into more and more people using steroids and
putting more people in legal trouble• Once the steroid era began it won’t end because their will
always be pressure on athletes to succeed and they will do anything to succeed.
