Young Writers Stephenie Meyer Stephenie was born on December 24th 1973; originally she was named Stephenie Morgan. When she was 4 her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She was the second born with four younger siblings and one older. As the second oldest Stephenie was a helpful and caring older sister helping out whenever necessary. It was while looking aſter the younger siblings that she became very interested in reading especially classic authors, like Jane Austen, Charloe Brontë and Margaret Mitchell. In 1992 she earned a Naonal Merit Award, which helped her to aend Brigham Young University where she majored in English Literature. In 1996 she met Chrisan Meyer and they soon began dang. Less than a year later they became happily married. Shortly aſter Stephenie finished her university major at just 21, she became pregnant with her first child Gabe, who was followed by Seth and Eli. Stephenie Meyer is most well known for her series of books ‘The Twilight Saga’ which were inspired by a very vivid dream she had one night. Aſter wring the book Stephenie remembered from her dream calling the characters ‘he’ and ‘she’, Stephenie began finding names that she believed were fing for the roles. For the male character Stephenie took inspiraon from other books. She noced that there was a name used for most love stories but had become less common and so came the character Edward. Making a name up for the female character was much harder as there weren’t any names that seemed fing, therefore aſter much deliberaon she decided on a name... Isabella! Aſter having the series published by 2008, Stephenie was the world’s best-selling author. She has sold in excess of 300 million books. In 2008, she was named USA Today’s “Author of the Year” and was also included as part of MSN Lifestyle’s “Most Influenal Women of 2008” list. Meyer also landed the honor of being the second bestselling author of the decade. She was beaten in popularity only by J.K. Rowling, the author of the renowned YA fantasy series, Harry Poer.
