TO CONNECT STROBES, YOU WILL NEED: WIRE CUTTERS, WIRE STRIPPERS AND A SMALL FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER (1/8” [3 MM] WIDE OR SMALLER) Connecting Strobe Bulbs : Refer to the following photos showing a field connected strobe. 1. SEPARATE THE CONNECTOR PIECES AND FEED THE CABLE AS INDICATED 2. STRIP THE CABLE JACKET LEAVING APPROXIMATELY 1/2” OF WIRE EXPOSED 3. STRIP THE ENDS OF THE WIRES APPROXIMATELY 1/4” 4. INSERT THE RED WIRE (POSITIVE) INTO PIN-1 AND TIGHTEN THE SCREW. 5. INSERT THE BLACK WIRE (NEGATIVE) INTO PIN-2 AND TIGHTEN THE SCREW. 6. RE-ASSEMBLE THE CONNECTOR Connecting cables inside LED BRIK : Refer to the following photos showing internal connections. CAUTION: the spring loaded terminals are fragile. Do not push sideways. Do not push them farther than they will reach 1. Feed all field cables through the cable glands 2. Strip the cable jacket leaving approximately 6” of wire exposed. If desired use shrink tubing to dress the cable. 3. Strip the ends of the wires approximately 1/4”. If desired use insulated wire ferrules on each wire. 4. Apply soft pressure on the orange spring clip to open the terminal. Insert the red wire (positive) into the + terminal. 5. Apply soft pressure on the orange spring clip to open the terminal. Insert the black wire (negative) into the - terminal. 6. Repeat these steps for the rest of the strobe cables STEP 3 : INTERNAL TEST Before walking away, it is important to test the connections. The controller offers an internal test feature to help you make sure all the strobes work properly. This test is referred to as 00 Test and it causes all the strobes to flash in sequence. 00 Test: 1. Connect the BRIK to building power 2. Remove the TST jumper as shown in the photo below 3. Set the DMX Address switch to 00 4. Turn the power switch to ON (I) 5. The LED Strobes will cycle in sequence. Go outside and make sure that all the LEDs are flashing. STEP 4 : OPERATION Stand-Alone: When using your LED BRIK in stand-alone mode (which means it is not connected to a DMX source or other LED BRIKs), you need to set the system to Stand-Alone Mode. In this mode, the LED Strobes will flash in Random Mode at about 1 second frequency. NOTE: No other features are available in Random Mode. You cannot change the frequency or the order. 1. Connect the BRIK to building power 2. Install the TST jumper as shown in the photo below 3. Set the DMX Address switch to 01 (any value other than 00 will work) 4. Turn the power switch to ON (I) 5. The LED Strobes will flash in random sequence. Go outside and make sure that all the LEDs are flashing. STEP 5 : DMX OPERATION When using your LED BRIK in DMX Mode (which means it is connected to a DMX source or to other LED BRIKs), you need to set the system to DMX Mode. In this mode, the LED Strobes will be fully controllable from the lighting console or other DMX source. NOTE: No dimming function is available with this system. Each LED Strobe will flash only once when triggered. 1. Connect the BRIK to building power 2. Remove the TST jumper as shown in the photo above 3. Set the DMX Address switch to the desired base address for the BRIK. Notice that the switch accepts HEX. Refer to the HEX conversion table in this guide as reference. 4. Turn the power switch to ON (I) 5. To trigger an LED Strobe, simply increase the DMX value from 0 to 255. Strobe Connection Diagrams:

Two cable choices are offered for connecting

    your LED Strobes.

    Belden-9408, 18 AWG sunlight resistant

    Belden-9486, 18 AWG tray rated

Whether you purchased your cable from Birket

or you supplied your own cable, please follow

    these diagrams and techniques.

Always follow proper polarity. No damage will be

caused to the LED strobe if the polarity is

accidentally reversed. The LED Strobe will simply

    not work.

The use of wire ferrules inside the LED BRIK is

    highly recommended but not required.

Always leave enough extra cable and wire to

make possible corrections in the future.
