Integration of College and Career ReadinessWe live in a global society that requires learners to showcase more than just a collection of knowledge. Preparing students for college and career is a process that begins early in their education in order to ensure their future success. Pitsco Education embeds a range of experiences in its curriculum to facilitate the development of future-ready skills, including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and decision making in addition to information, media, and technology skills. All of these are integrated into the curriculum in meaningful, relevant ways that reinforce the validity of the skills to the students in other situations outside of the curriculum experience.

Further, Pitsco Education curriculum has been profiled to workplace-readiness skills, such as applied mathematics, location information, reading for information, and workplace observation. Three of these skills are the foundation for ACT’s National Career Readiness Certificate because these skills are used in more than 19,000 occupations across the nation.

STEM CampsSTEM Camp experiences are designed for incoming students in Grades K-10 and provide opportunity for teachers and students to be successful with Pitsco Education STEM programs. Teachers will be provided hands-on professional development on the STEM Camp programs by highly skilled and experienced Pitsco facilitators prior to the beginning of the STEM Camp. Students in the STEM Camp will experience a sample of the programs through engaging and exciting STEM activities taken directly from the curriculum.

STEM Professional DevelopmentProfessional development sessions correspond to STEM topics and effective classroom integration of hands-on activities and allow participants to formulate a personalized definition of STEM. Each collaborative session includes project-based explorations and strategies for incorporating STEM into daily classroom activities and projects. Roundtable discussions further strengthen strategies for integrating STEM into daily classroom activities and projects. Through a consultation process, Pitsco Education can design seminars around the STEM concepts your district desires.

Professional ServicesVisits from a Pitsco educational services manager and customer service representative provide regular on-site support. These services ensure that a representative visits each classroom that is implementing Pitsco curriculum. These visits result in the generation of a summary report that is shared with the administrative team at the school and key district-level personnel, and the visits enhance the fidelity of implementation to maximize program effectiveness. A Pitsco Education consultant will help determine the schedule and frequency of professional services.
