Cooking and Science Camp Using the scientific method, including lots of experimentation, kids will learn about several science principles related to cooking, products made from foods, nutrition, and food safety.
Think Like an Engineer Camp Have you ever said, “someone needs to invent …?” In this camp, that someone will be you!! This week you will go through the engineering design process from start to finish. Our last day you will pitch your idea for solving a real-world problem.

Science Smorgasbord Camp A buffet of science topics and concepts awaits you in this exciting camp. Each day a new subject accompanied by a fun activity will be introduced and explored.

Camps are held at Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Mercer County, 930 Spruce Street, Lawrenceville, next to Trenton Farmers Market. All programs are delivered by Rutgers 4-H Youth Development faculty and staff. Each week is capped at 15 youth to help create positive learning environments and to maintain favorable staff to camper ratios.
There is an Early Bird discount if you register before May 1. Cooking and Sewing/Upcycling Camps are $185 before May 1 and $195 after. Outdoor Adventure Camp is $235 before May 1 and $250 after.
All three cooking camps include lunch. A lunch will need to be sent with your child daily for Outdoor Adventure Camp.

‘Back to Basics’ Cooking and Sewing Camp
Prepare healthy snacks, meals, and desserts in our teaching and demonstration kitchens in the morning. In the afternoon campers will be making simple tote bags, pajama pants and other fun projects. There will be NEW projects for our returning campers. Sewing machines and all fabrics and materials are provided. The final day of camp will include a team cook-off and fashion show.
Creative Cooking and Upcycling Camp
Prepare ‘from scratch’ entrees, comparing taste and nutrition to store bought alterna-tives. The afternoon will focus on giving old items a new chance. Campers will repurpose old T-shirts and jeans into a variety of projects and use their imagination to make old items function in a new way. There will be NEW projects for our returning campers.
‘Get Moving – Get Healthy’ Cooking and Sewing Camp
Get a head start on preparing for back to school. Learn how to make nutritious and yummy lunches and afterschool snacks. Make a variety of projects that will help you get a healthy start to the school-year.
Outdoor Adventure Camp Meet at the Extension Office each morning and travel together to our outdoor adventure of the day – activities such as mountain biking at Mercer County Park, an introduction to horses at the Mercer County Equestrian Center, and rock climbing at Rockville Climbing Center. Spend time in the great outdoors and challenge yourself to new heights.
