RE News

Catholic Charities The month of September is dedicated to fundraising for Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Adelaide. Schools are encouraged to have fundraising events for important charities in the local Adelaide area. Today you will receive a brochure outlining the charities that are supported by the Catholic Charities appeal. We will be having a Catholic Charities fundraising day on the first Thursday back next term-it will be in October but due to a crowded calendar in September we have decided to hold it then. Children will be involved in setting up little stalls to either sell things they have made, play a game they have set up or food items. It is advisable to send the children with no more than $5 in coins, if possible in a snaplock bag with their name on it-particularly for the younger students. Community prayer will have focus on Catholic Charities too and the stalls will take place from 11.15am until around 12.15pm. You are most welcome to come along and help on the stalls or just join in the fun!

Children’s Liturgy Every week at 9.15am Sunday Mass at Holy Spirit Church, children can be involved in the children’s liturgy. This involves the children processing out of the Church into the hall with 2 adult leaders who look at the Gospel of the day in a child friendly way, usually with a hands on activity. The children return to the main body of the Church at the Offertory procession. This helps the children to gain a better understanding of the Gospel stories in a child friendly environment and also helps you as an adult to engage in the Mass without the distraction of youngsters. If you would like more information please come and see me. Regards and blessings, Cathy Tilley Assistant Principal
