Page 1 inclusive innovative inspiring Dear Stella Community Stella Re-Opens Its Doors We have welcomed our community back to Stella this week with Wednesday being our first day reopened to all Year groups. I thank the girls for being so cooperative and working with the staff to ensure everyone is safe. We continue to improve the mitigants in the school and in the very near future we will see the installation of wall mounted wipe stations to assist students and staff to keep the classrooms clean. We would also encourage you to download the COVID Safe app to facilitate contact tracing if ever needed. As I mentioned last week, we ask that parents/carers do not enter the campus unless necessary to ensure we are protecting the health of those in the community. If you are using the Kiss and Drop Zone, please remain in your car as your daughter alights or gets in, to assist the operation of the zone. Council will be patrolling school zones so please be mindful of moving on quickly and remaining in your car at all times. With Uniform Shop transactions we request that parents/carers do not enter the shop. Please load the required money on your daughter’s MSA card and allow her to pay for purchases. We are currently investigating an online ordering process which will make things easier for everyone. Congratulations to our Year 12 Student Leaders who, with Ms Collins and Ms Ferguson, put together an amazing College Assembly that was hope-filled and reminded us of the importance of Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week. If your daughter did not show you the link to Tomas Roberts message ‘The Great Realisation’, I invite you to see it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw5KQMXDiM4&feature=share Student Wellbeing: Understanding Different COVID-19 Experiences An article in this week’s Teacher (ACER) online magazine was one very pertinent to our current experiences as we transition back to face-to-face schooling. In the article by Helen Street, a comment by teacher Anna Partridge speaks volumes: ‘…while teaching my classes online, some students who struggled in class have thrived, submitted their work on time and to a good quality. Others are really missing the collaboration in class and bouncing ideas off others. Some are loving the unstructured day and being home with families, and yet others are struggling with the home environment and relationships are strained.’ For our girls the experience has been varied. We all need to move on with courage now. It is not the time to reflect on what we missed but remember what we value and move on together, supporting each other to do our best. As staff, we are working with individual students to assess their capacity to remain independent learners, able to develop the autonomy they will need moving forward. As parents and carers, we ask that you support these initiatives and keep your daughters connected to the many supports for their learning and wellbeing at Stella. https://www.teachermagazine.com.au/articles/student-wellbeing-understanding-different-covid- 19-experiences?utm_source=CM&utm_medium=Special&utm_content=Wellbeing Renewing our Earth This Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost, remembering the birth of the Church through the Holy Spirit. Abbot Gregory also says that the community is praying for the whole world as we move forward caring for those who are ill and praying that the scientists will discover a vaccine soon. ‘The path forward will be different, with the mixed elements of challenge and blessing; the future will carry a newness that asks us to be docile to the movements of the Holy Spirit who never ceases to teach, guide, and inspire us along new and uncharted paths. Like the apostles and Mary in the upper room, let us wait in confidence, in trust, and in hope. Let us ready ourselves to respond with enlivened trust that God is opening for us a new “tomorrow” where we will be guided by the divine Spirit of our good and gracious God.’

Out Now!

Student Learning ConferencesNormally our Student Learning Conferences occur during Term 2 but this year were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are working on procedures to enable their rescheduling in Term 3. They will then provide valuable feedback on the period of remote learning as well as the adjustment back to face-to-face classes. More importantly, they can feed forward for improvement and success ifor the remainder of Semester 2. We thank you for your patience as we navigate challenging times.
