Spectacular School Supply Subvention!
Library Receives Grant
The Library is proud to announce that it is the beneficiary of a Latino Americans: 500 Years of
History grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the
American Library Association (ALA). This grant
will support the exploration of Latino American
history and culture in the United States. The
library will be holding special events. Be on the
look out for upcoming events and programs!

Senior Spa Session
Friday, 9/11 @ 10am
Enjoy some pampering with free chair and foot massages. Spas are
more than just pampering, though, it’s about health and wellness for
both body and soul. Also offered in this session will be free blood
pressure screenings. Flu shots will also be available-free with most
health insurance (please bring proof of insurance), or
$25 out of pocket.

Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world. With so many
varieties, it may be a bit intimidating to explore the world of tea on your
own. Shelia Duda of Tea Lula, a Certified Tea Specialist, will help you
demystified with a fun, lighthearted class. You will leave her class armed
with the knowledge and confidence to purchase and prepare a variety of
loose leaf teas.

throughout the week (events will be announced at the Library),
ending with a pizza party and a movie based on a book on Friday,
10/23. To be invited to the Friday festivities, a book report form
must be turned in by Thursday 10/22. Book report forms will be
provided and will be available at the Library.

Scrementi’s and Friends Join Together to Lend a Hand
Scrementi’s Restaurant in Steger and the Friends of the Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library are partnering on
a very special fundraiser. For every two lunch entrees purchased, Scrementi’s will donate $5 to the Friends. For every
two dinner entrees purchased, Scrementi’s will donate $10 to the Friends. No coupons or any other specials may be
used for either entrée.
No flyer is necessary and you don’t need to inform your server. Simply turn in the receipt from lunch or dinner entrees
purchased between September 7 and September 13 to the Library, and we’ll do the rest. All receipts must be received
by the Library no later than Wednesday, September 16. It’s a great way to please your palette while giving something
back.
