WHAT IS FUELING CHANGES WITHIN COMPANY CULTURE TODAY?

DIVERSITY:From baby boomers to Millennials, to Generation X and Y, companies are expanding their work force, creating a more diverse set of needs in the workplace.

PERSONALIZATION:Offering the chance to personalize your spaces gives you a feeling of ownership and creates a better environment for the workers using the space.

PURPOSE:Employees, whether a millennial or a baby boomer, want more out of their work experience. They want the work they do to have an impact and meaning.

BIOPHILIA:Humans are innately attracted to nature, making biophilic design a must in the workplace. Offering nature inspired spaces provide for better overall employee well-being.

SITE PLAN: Seattle, Washington

In a horticultural context, resilience is a measurement of a plant’s ability to tolerate conditions of adversity and return to a healthful state. Similarly, humans are resilient in the ways in which they use clinical services and healthy lifestyle knowledge to remain or return to a healthy state.

The pitch from most evergreen trees can be used on skin as a sun burn prevention method.

EVERGREEN AS MEDICINE

Pine needles contain large concentrations of vitamin A and C and are often used in teas.

Pine essential oil regulates and modifies out of balance conditions in the body.

Pine oil helps treat diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tracts.

The scent of pine needles is proven to promote relaxation and a soothing environment.

Pine nuts are major sources of amino acids and proteins, making them highly nutritious.

REFLECTED CEILING PLAN

WOOD SLAT CEILING FEATURE:

A repetitive canopy-like wood ceiling feature is spread throughout the space to emphasize the informational spaces that aid in promoting, educating and enhancing healthier lifestyle choices.

EXPOSED WAFFLE SLAB:

An exposed waffle slab ceiling at the perimeter of the plan relates to the evergreen tree’s density. The outermost part of the tree offers the least amount of coverage and therefore is the least dense. This space mimics this idea with the highest, most exposed ceiling.

ACOUSTICAL CEILING TILES:

Armstrong acoustical ceiling tiles fill the more private spaces to allow for more acoustical separation. One of the largest distractions in the workplace today are auditory noises. These ACTs will help prevent this from causing unwanted stress and promote more productivity.
