treatable alloys traded under the name "HYKUT" with improved

machinability characteristics. Where customers require very straight,

stress free products the company has also developed specific

processes to meet these very demanding applications.

In many instances Kiveton Park Steel works closely with both raw

material sources and end users to develop bespoke specifications

covering special steel analyses and processes / process controls toestablish unique supply chains for critical products.

The facilities listed below provide details of the installed capacity

which is also available for the hirework of standard or special

materials including stainless steels and nickel alloys.

Preparation - Incoming and interstage heat treated coils of rawmaterial or wire are cleaned chemically and coated with Lime, Borax,Phosphate, Stearate or Bonderlube ready for the next stage of

production. Incoming hot rolled bars are shotblasted and in line

lubricated.

Heat treatment - Materials can be spheroidise or machinability

annealed, normalised, using atmosphere controlled or batch

methods, hardened & tempered and/or stress relieved.

Wire drawing - Coils up to 3 tonnes, 4.50 - 35.00mm round or

equivalent shapes.

Cutting to length - Spinner straightening and cutting to length for

round wires up to 35mm. Shaped wires in the equivalent round

range 5 -16mm can be cut to length from coils.

Bar drawing / reeling - Up to 75mm in rounds or equivalent crosssection shapes.

Grinding - Precision grinding available across full range,4.50-75mm.

Short lengths - Available using sawing or cropping equipment to

precise tolerances.

Chamfering - One or both ends, 8 - 60mm or equivalent rounds.

Crack detection - In or offine for bars, 7 - 70mm or equivalent

rounds, in line only for coils.

Ultrasonic testing - An offine process, including crack detection

and laser measurement for bars in the range 7 - 50mm or

equivalent rounds.

Steel types include most American, European and British Standards

ranging from the more basic low carbon steels through to Nickel­

Chromium- Molybdenum steels. Material selection and strict process

controls ensure the products are renowned for their quality,

performance and consistency.

For Bearing Grade Steels the raw material is manufactured to special

steelmaking practices, ensuring a highly consistent product in terms

of cleanliness, chemical composition, surface integrity and

homogeneity. Kiveton Park Steel is an approved supplier to many of

the best known global bearing manufacturers.

Kiveton Park Steel has a number of Batch and Continuous

Atmosphere Controlled Furnaces providing various process

conditions including Spheroidise Annealing and Hardening &

Tempering and in -line or off -line surface or sub surface defect

testing can be employed to confirm product integrity.

A variety of surface coatings are available to meet specific

customer requirements and cut lengths or bar throughout the full

company size range can be supplied in the ground condition for

special applications.

Wire in coil is produced in the range 4.50 - 35.00mm dias all of which

can also be supplied straightened and cut to length with sawn or

cropped shorter lengths available if required. Bar is available up to

75mm dia, typically in 3 - 6 metre lengths but longer

or shorter pieces are available if necessary. Shaped

Sections are produced, typically in Squares,

Hexagons or Octagons but other shapes have

been specially developed meeting

unique customer demands.

Square section bar is available in both the annealed and

drawn condition and hardened & tempered condition in

a variety of materials.

Special procedures developed through years of experience

ensure all products are protected from any damage due to

mishandling. The operations team within Kiveton Park Steel works

closely with both customers and suppliers to develop

comprehensive supply specifications to provide a quality assured

product with a full service package.

Typical grades supplied are Chrome, Chrome Vanadium, Silicon

Chrome and Silicon Chrome Nickel to European, American and

British Standards with bespoke variations if required. In - line surface

defect testing is used extensively to help eliminate the risk of harmful

surface defects in the finished products.

Kiveton Park Steel provides Spheroidise Annealing through a

continuous atmosphere controlled fumace giving consistency in

cold coiling performance with minimum decarburisation.

Where necessary customised stocks of finished or part finished

material are held to meet the service requirements in the supply

chain schedules.

Wire is supplied in coils in diameters up to 35mm and can also be

supplied spinner straightened and cut to length throughout the

....... range. Bar is available up to 75mm dia and can be supplied

in the ground condition with additional off - line ultrasonic

inspection for more sensitive applications.

Strategic stocks of finished or part processed materials are held

to support contract supply chain business and the Customer

Service Team will provide a tailored service for individual customers.

Bright Bar in round or shaped sections is supplied in the range

4.50 - 75.00mm equivalent round with various Batch or Continuous

Atmosphere Controlled heat treatment processes to provide

Spheroidise Annealing, Normalising, Hardening & Tempering and

Stress Relieving. Further processes on site include Reeling, Grinding,Chamfering, sawing, Cropping and both in-line and off-line surface

defect detection equipment.

For more sensitive applications, Kiveton Park Steel has invested in off­

line Ultrasonic Inspection for sub surface defects with crack detection

and laser measurement also included in that final process facility.

Alloy and Engineering steels can be supplied to most European,

American and British Standards. Where required the company will

provide full technical liaison with both customers and steelmakers
