Unique Combinationexotech has been specialising in welding risers (both clad overlay of flanges and butt welds) since 2012. in 2017, they started with the internal diameter overlay welding of scr joints, using a unique welding machine nick-named cladiator1. This cladiator handles lengths of up to 19m and internal diameters of 130mm. exotech is currently in the process of qualifying the butt weld for the shell Vito Top stress Joint (TsJ) for the x65 riser. This is the most critical joint to be welded for these risers connecting the sub-sea well infrastructure to the semi-submersible platform. Vito is located 240km southeast of new orleans, in

the gulf of mexico. The field is located beneath more than 1,200m of water. by joining the PTD group, exotech gains better access to the offshore business located in the houston area, where logan industries is a well-known company for their riser tensioners. Together with logan industries and Verolme special equipment, they will fabricate new and refurbish old equipment, both in europe and the us. by opening a new workshop for manufacturing higher alloy equipment near houston, the PTD group increases its capacity to design and fabricate this special equipment close to the business. The PTD group will in the nearby future expand to the Far east. The group is also developing plans to become active in other regions. Joining forces will thus provide a unique combination of knowledge and production capacity worldwide.
