The camera controls are straight forward to use.

An LCD display shows all of the settings and is used to configure the camera.

Icons are used to indicate the camera’s settings.

The configuration shown here is for AVI, or movie mode.

It is set to shoot in high resolution 2560 x 1920 videos.

The single star indicates that it is shooting in a low quality mode.

This camera can shoot still images, firing off 1 – 9 pictures with each activation of the PIR.

It will also shoot videos in AVI mode, capturing segments configurable between 10 and 180 seconds long.

A manual mode is also available, that allows you to take pictures like a hand held camera.




There are 3 image resolution modes available:

2560 x 1920 High resolution.

1600 x 1200 Low resolution.

640 x 480 Default video resolution.




There are 3 image quality settings:

One Star = Low Quality

Two Stars = Normal Quality

Three Stars = High Quality

The image quality chosen will affect the overall file storage size of the pictures. Lower quality images require less storage space than higher quality images.




The battery status is also displayed on the LCD.

Full, Half, and Low settings will be displayed. The battery image shown here indicates a Full battery.

When the batteries are low, the front low battery LED indicator will flash, so you can tell the batteries are low without opening the camera housing.




The Date and Time are also configured via the camera controls, and the time is displayed on the LCD.

The date and time stamp will be shown on all images, as well as the first frame of the video files.

Setting the date and time is crucial for determing the movement of your game.

The moon phase and temperature stamping will also be on all images and the first frame of your video files.

This requires no configuration and will occur automatically for you.

To program the camera, slide the switch from the OFF position to the TEST setting.

Use the UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, and OK buttons to navigate the menu of options and select the settings.

Once complete, slide the switch to the ON position.

The I540ir offers variable PIR detection distance.

The PIR dial has Near to Far coverage.

Near is approximately 15 feet, and Far is approximately 30 feet.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the PIR depending upon your camera location and conditions.

When setting up your camera, you can test the detection of the PIR by setting the dial to the TEST mode.

As you walk in the detection area of the PIR, the TEST LED will light up green to show you when the PIR has detected your movement.

This is ideal for determing if your intended coverage area is correct.

When your camera is armed, the TEST LED will begin blinking as it enters its count down mode.

You have one minute to leave the coverage area.

When the blinking stops, the camera will start recording images upon PIR activation.

The I540ir has 32 MB of internal memory.

It is expandable up to 2 GB via the SD memory card slot.

This scouting camera runs on 8 C-cell batteries.

A battery cover holds the batteries in place.

The 12 Volt Lead Acid Battery is recommended for extended field life.

The 12 volt connector on the I540ir accepts a barrel plug that attaches to an optional lead acid battery (part number STC-12VBB).

This external battery option comes with its own charger.

The Tree Screw Mount allows this camera to accept various tree or pole mounting brackets for maximum flexibility.

On the rear of the camera housing are two strap slots used to attach the camera to a tree.

The supplied strap can be used to easily hang your camera.

These strap slots are also utilized by the optional game camera locking brackets.

By default, you have the ability to add a security cable and padlock to secure your camera from potential theft.

The lock can be attached to the locking hole pictured to the right.
