Ex. What changes in Scrooge are evident in the way Scrooge addresses the last spirit?
• Scrooge’s changes are predictable because he
acts differently. For the first time in the story,
he is not arrogant, but pleading. He tells the
Spirit, “’Good Spirit,’ he pursued, as down
upon the ground he fell before it: ‘Your
nature intercedes for me, and pities
me…’” He not only begs for help, but
actually lays his body down to show his
sincerity.
