As a current Kent State student, you are able to obtain a license for certain data analysis software packages for free or at a discounted price

Statistical software at KSU

Free for students JMP/JMP Pro – Statistical software SAS and SAS University Edition – Statistical software R and RStudio – Statistical software  GPower – Statistical power analysis and sample size calculation

Discounted for students SPSS Statistics – Statistical software Stata – Statistical software

Qualitative software at KSU

Free for students NVivo 12 –Qualitative data analysis

Discounted for students Dedoose –Qualitative data analysis (browser‐based platform) (Not officially supported by the university)

Survey software at KSU

Free for students Qualtrics –Online survey data collection and analysis

Used for:Qualitative and mixed‐methods research

Cost:Current students and faculty can obtain a license at no charge

How to obtain: Request license through software.kent.edu; you will be instructed to install the free 14‐day trial through QSR International’s website

Qualtrics

Used for:Creating and distributing online surveys

OS: Access from any computer with internet access

Cost: Free for all current Kent State faculty, staff, and students

Used for different purposes including market research, customer satisfaction and loyalty, product and concept testing, employee evaluations and website feedback.

SPSS Statistics

Current version: SPSS Statistics 26 (24 and 25 also available)

Used for:General‐purpose statistical data analysis

OS:Windows and Mac

Cost:  University‐owned computers: Free to install or use on public computers

Personal computers: Purchase for personal computer through kent.onthehub.com; approximately $60‐$100 depending on version

Note: SAS University Edition can do a lot of what SAS can do, but it does omit some features. Check with your instructor

JMP and JMP Pro

What it is: R is a free and open‐source statistical programming language RStudio is an “interactive development environment” (IDE) for R
