SOLAR IS RISINGIN ILLINOISDear Friends of Clean Power,

Thank you for this opportunity to share our solar development and constructionexperience with you. When we started the Energy Solutions division of Continentalin 2009 we were way ahead of the curve. Thanks to the Future Energy Jobs Act weare going to see a 30-fold increase in solar installations in Illinois over the nextdecade. Continental is well prepared to handle this large demand includingrooftop, ground mount and community solar projects.

Continental Electrical Construction Company (CECCo) has been in the electricalbusiness since 1912 when our founder, Harry Witz, established Continental as apremier electrical construction company installing electric lighting. Now under thedirection of Harry's great-grandsons, David and Steven Witz, Continentalcontinues to leverage technology for our customers and our great State of Illinois.

As one of the largest employers of Union electricians in Chicagoland, we are ableto staff projects large and small ensuring consistent quality and control. We arealso the largest solar contractor in the State of Illinois. Our team ofengineers, project managers, and field supervisors is unmatched in the industry.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCEContinental has assisted the full spectrum of commercial and industrial facilitiesreduce their energy and carbon footprint. Our solar PV, battery storage, and energyconservation projects have saved our clients hundreds of thousands of dollars. Weinstalled a 55 kW solar array paired with a 100 kW battery storage system at our OakBrook headquarters so that we could see for ourselves how solar energy plusstorage reduces operating expenses. We are committed to helping Illinois achievethe Renewable Portfolio Standard of 25% clean energy by 2025.

Sustainable Design

IKEA - Bolingbrook /Schaumburg1.99 MW OF ROOFTOP SOLARIKEA installed large rooftop solar arrays attheir Schaumburg and Bolingbrook retailstores in 2012. This investment reinforces thelong-term commitment of IKEA tosustainability and confidence in photovoltaic(PV) technology. IKEA owns and operateseach of its solar PV energy systems asopposed to a solar lease or PPA (powerpurchase agreement). Together, the projectsproduce about 2,334,081 kWh of cleanelectricity annually, the equivalent of 1,915tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The declining cost of solar made theproject cost effective for the district. The solararrays will produce a net savings of $9.8 millionover 25 years. Both Grayslake Central HS andGrayslake North HS have roof-mounted solararrays with an additional ground installation atNorth HS. The solar PV will offset 32% of utilitycosts.

The schools also integrated a curriculumdeveloped by the National Energy EducationDevelopment (NEED) which includes aweb-based energy dashboard for use in theclassroom.

SoCore in turn, contracted Continental for the installation ofthe array that was completed in just 6 months.

This project is the 3rd IKEA solar array thatContinental has built, and one of dozens wherewe partner with other solar developers andgeneral contractors because of the complexnature of large commercial, industrial andcampus projects. Developers and Contractorsknow that CECCO gets the job done on time onbudget with our workforce of 500 fieldelectricians and seasoned foremen.
