PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR KOEHLER)
To all Members in the Senate, we'll be going to 2nd Readings
pretty soon. Senator Rose, for what purpose do you seek
recognition?
SENATOR ROSE:
Point of personal privilege, if I may, Mr. President.
PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR KOEHLER)
Please state your point.
SENATOR ROSE:
Ladies and Gentlemen, in the -- in the President's Gallery,
we've got the Heyworth High School, Mr. Lawler senior Civics Class
students. This is the trip for their last day at school and
somehow they chose to come to Springfield to visit us. So before
they leave -- and by the way, Ladies and Gentlemen, we're going to
have some U of I students, some ISU students, some Eastern
students; we've got a couple people that are enlisting in our
nation's military; and we've got a couple people who are already
serving on the local Heyworth fire department, Randolph Township
Fire Department. And so, with that, we would like to welcome them,
but before they leave -- I already gave them one extra credit for
their test. And in the President's Chair today is Senator Dave
Koehler, who is Peoria's finest, so if you put down Koehler and
Peoria, Mr. Lawler's going to give you another bonus point on your
test. Let's welcome 'em to Springfield.
PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR KOEHLER)
Will our guests please rise? Welcome to the Illinois Senate.
On page 11 on the Calendar, Order of House Bills 2nd Reading, we'll
start with House Bill 2076. Senator Gillespie. House Bill 2078.

exceptional is that he is here with both his dad, Mike, and his
grandfather, John, and grandmother, Liz. So it's nice to have
three generations of Deerfield Reids here with us today. And Ian
has a -- a sport that I think I'd like to learn someday, and that's
curling. So please help me in welcoming Ian and all the Reids to

SENATOR HASTINGS:
Thank you, Mr. President. Point of personal privilege.
PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR KOEHLER)
Please state your point.
SENATOR HASTINGS:
Now listen up, everybody in the Chamber. I want to make sure
everyone listens to this. This is so important. I'm not wearing
the hideous blue coat that Senator Cullerton wore last week -- or
two weeks ago for that basketball game. It barely even fit him.
But I want to tell everybody in this Chamber a few things. We've
had some of the best athletes come through this Chamber that the
Senate has ever seen. We've had the likes of Matt Murphy, who
managed to blow his knee out running to first base. But he's back.
He was back on the game -- he was back on the ballfield right after
that. Last year, after last year's softball game, Senator
Syverson, he had to have his spine fused. He's out there playing
basketball this year. He's not complaining. He's not complaining
at all. Right, Senator? Game end. But when I asked Senator
Peters if he wanted to play softball, he told me he bumped his
knee in the basketball game so he may not be able to run down the…
I said, "It's okay, Senator Peters." In the Senate - in the Senate
- great moments are borne from great opportunities, Senator Peters.
And that's what we have here today, everybody. That's what you've
earned here - one game. And we may have lost nine out of the last
ten games to the House of Representatives, but not tonight. Not
tonight! Tonight is our night! It is our night and we will win
this game tonight! So, if you wouldn't mind, at 5 o'clock, you
can show up to the ballfield, Jackson {sic} Park. It's on -- I
think it's the east end of town, I believe. Jackson {sic} Park.

Show up at 5. The game starts at 5:30. We got food. Oberweis

everybody for -- who's playing in the game. If you haven't
committed to playing in the game, it's not too late to commit. We
really look forward to everyone playing tonight and seeing Senator
Oberweis on the mound. Thank you, Mr. President. God bless the
Senate. Hopefully we have a big win tonight. Thank you, sir.

reference, because it reminded me that I've got to speak and

at Neuqua Valley High School. She has made State at Business
