• Submit 424, 424C, 424D & Project Description in Grants.gov (minimum).

• Email remaining docs to SHCGP by April 15th.

• Do not resubmit docs in grants.gov.

• Project Description (A1) includes:

• Project start and end date (status).

• Completed projects not eligible for grant award.

• Identify all project work tasks with % cost for correct project ranking (1.1.A, 1.4.C; 1.4.D, etc.)

Grant Program Update – Initial Applications


• Safety/Security Projects receive FY funding (1.1.A - 1.1.H).

• Mitigate, replace & repair within SVH

• Safety sub groups include :

• Building construction: adding/replacing building utility systems or features 1.1.B

• Security : camera, fencing, door systems… 1.1.E

• Other : generators, resident lifts, nurse call… 1.1.H

Grant Program Update – Safety Projects


• All safety applications should have state matching funds.

• Safety projects can include multiple state homes.

• Project requires safety citation or VAMC assessment.

• Contact us to review before grants.gov submittal.

• Safety work must be the major cost of the application.

• Safety work >$400,000 are a single safety project.

• Safety work <$400,000 can be combined with other renovation work (1.4.C to 1.4.F) to meet the minimum total project cost.

• Safety: 1.1.H Nurse call $250K

• Safety: 1.1.F Fire Alarm $100K

• Window replacement 1.4.D $150K

• Not Acceptable: 1.4.D ($1100K)

• Safety: 1.1.F Detection $350K

• Roof replacement 1.4.D $750K

• Application date used to rank projects (grants.gov).

• VA grant approval date used for 65% matching funds.

• VA does not authorize/approve construction starts.

• All approved costs are 65% eligible after VA approval.

• Submit updates, drawings, bids to VA for review if the state decides to proceed with project before grant award.

Grant Program Update – Construction Starts


• $78M in grant payments for FY2013; FYTD = $44.5M

• Identified 79 grants for closeout or lagging requests.

• Closed 46 grants with final payment 1Q14 (Nov-Feb).

• Currently making payments on 73 grants.

• Increase to >100 grants by 2015.

• Clear all payment requests each Friday.
