Learning Curve

■Adobe Premier is difficult to learn■Filming is a science■Basics such as keeping the camera steady, types

of shots, wind, noise etc.■How to interview, developing open ended

questions

Page 8: Starting a video program in your library

Storyboarding

■Storyboarding is crucial to a video production■It helps the students develop a concept and think

about how to achieve their vision■Students like to use different types of storyboards,

so we provide them with several choices

Page 9: Starting a video program in your library

Challenges

■Scheduling ■ Students need to be supervised. Teachers often cannot accompany groups of students leaving the library staff responsible

■ Studio sign up sheet on-line

Page 10: Starting a video program in your library

Video

■Best practice- Following filming, immediately download the video to the students file, with an appropriate name

■Good enough- Check the camera in and out to the student even for a short period of time so you can locate the correct camera and video to download at a future date

■Disaster- Filming with multiple cameras and classes and not knowing which camera was used

Page 11: Starting a video program in your library

Clip Location

■All media clips for the specific project must be saved in the same folder

■This allows Premier to create a path to the clips.■Following screen shows what happens when files

are not properly saved

Page 12: Starting a video program in your library
Page 13: Starting a video program in your library

Equipment

■Studio gets very hot which is hard on the students and the equipment

■Funding for replacement bulbs etc comes from the library budget

■If there are too many students in the room something will break!

Page 14: Starting a video program in your library

General Tips

■Students should not wear green when filming■Check for spelling and grammar■Always watch video on the big screen to see how

it projects

Page 15: Starting a video program in your library

Finally

■Be kind to yourself, this is a big undertaking
