A note of introductionDue to our busy and "modern" lifestyle we often forget to

think about our health until it is too late. We give into consuming way too much junk food, spend too much time inside the house in front of an LCD monitor and we forget about exercise.

This won't be one of those blogs where we keep telling you these things as we are sure you already know about them! The thing most people lack is: time and motivation. Luckily, it is never too late to start exercising in order to get better health and this has even been scientifically analyzed and confirmed.

The article was first published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine and as such I recommend you check it out if you are interested. Anyway, let us get back to our topic and we will start things off with the "motivation" factor.

different types of motivation. Some people can't even get motivated to begin their exercise while others don't stay motivated very long and they give up on their routine.

you have to give up on delicious junk food and all those other habitual routines in your life. Also, you won't be spending hours in the gym unless you have much higher ambitions for yourself.

Determination and DisciplineOnce you understand why exercise is so

important, you need to truly set it as your goal. Perhaps you may think that you do not have time, but the truth is you probably have more than enough.

After all, you are currently starting at your screen and reading this article and you could probably be exercising instead. But we will talk more about this in the next section.

Determination and Discipline

Right now, you need to understand that it isn't easy. If you are just starting out then exercising may seem long, painful and you will be expecting results that just don't seem to be happening.

This takes time and the easiest principle is to set smaller goals and stick to them. If you can't do 10 push ups then start by doing 5, then increase that to 6 the next day and so on.

Determination and DisciplineStart small and then constantly improve! If it

doesn't feel good then you are putting yourself under too much stress and effort. If you can run for 30 minutes and feel good then do that for a while. In a couple of weeks try to run for 45.

If you can do it then stick to it, if not, just go back to the previous tier. All that matters is that you never stop! This discipline, this is determination!

Time Management Finally, this is the last

barrier! Time - something that we always seem to need more than anything. But is your daily schedule so busy that you can't even invest a few hours every two or three days? If you take showers every morning before work, try to get up 15 minutes earlier to do some simple exercises.

Time Management Before you go to bed you can also try running for 15 to

30 minutes or just go out for a relaxing walk. Finding someone to keep you company is the ideal solution as it turns "boring exercise" into a (productive) social activity.

The weekends should be your primary target as this is usually the time of the week when you have most of your free time. Don't push yourself too hard and make sure the exercise plan is adjusted to your current fitness level. As stated above, finding people who would gladly join you is a great way to feel as if you time hasn't been "wasted" by exercising as you were also able to have a niche chat with your friend or loved one.
