HISTORYAfter the Civil War Stansted House was rebuilt in 1688 on the present site for Lord Lumley. Stansted was devastated by fire in 1900 and the House was rebuilt in a fabulous style in 1903.
A fine example of the Caroline Revival, Stansted is one of the south’s most beautiful Stately Homes, surrounded by nearly 2000 acres of rolling parkland and woods on the edge of the South Downs.
Over the centuries, Stansted has received many royal and distinguished visitors. Now owned by a Charitable Trust, Stansted has moved to the next chapter of its history, providing first class office accommodation for the 21st Century business occupier.
ACCOMMODATIONThe Stansted Park Foundation has converted extensive parts of Stansted House to a high standard to provide a number of professional offices. Most office suites are self-contained but offer the flexibility to be taken with the adjoining units. Internally the accommodation has a quality finish and offers the full range of IT and Broadband facilities, and services including heating, lighting, carpeting, and power/data trunking.
Other facilities on site include a restaurant in the Victorian Walled Gardens (200 metres away), extensive car-parking and covered cycle facilities for both staff and visitors, and a shower/'freshen-up' room available for the energetic. The “State Rooms” of the main House are available for hire by lessees for larger meetings or client functions. Catering facilities are available at the Pavilion Tea Room adjacent to Stansted Park Garden Centre.
Good security is provided by a resident Caretaker who lives on site and may be available to provide out of hours assistance, by separate arrangement with lessees.
The offices are heated by a Biomass wood fuel system using timber grown on the Estate - an entirely ‘green’ carbon-neutral system using sustainable Estate resources. For this and many other reasons, Stansted Park is promoted as a “Centre of Excellence” utilising its resources as a Historic House and Park to provide a wide range of contemporary uses relevant to the 21st Century.
