ELP is offered on school days during the regular school year. The staffing model is 1 certified Elementary Teacher and 1 Early Childhood Educator (ECE) (registered in the college) working together to deliver the program during the instructional day. Registration for the Early Learning Program for Stanley will be done through the main office. Dare to Dream Stanley is a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5 school located near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue. The Stanley community represents a richness of cultural backgrounds and languages with more than 25 different countries of birth and languages represented in the school. Stanley offers a Grade 4 and Grade 5 Gifted and Extended French Program. Stanley also offers Full Day Kindergarten. The Dominico DiLuca Community Centre next to the school offers many after school programs. The Continuing Education Department operates ESL programs for adults. Model Schools for Inner Cities Stanley is a cluster school as part the Model Schools for Inner Cities Program. The essential components of this program are: Equity, Community, Inclusiveness, Expectations. The model schools are one-stop community resource centres to provide students, their families and their communities with necessary tools to make a difference in the lives of the neighbourhood's children. The schools will become a hub for their neighbourhood. As a cluster school, Stanley is working with a group of schools to ensure the success of their students

School Improvement PlansOur School Improvement Plans for curriculum are summarized inone goal.  Teachers will engage in a series of PD opportunities(including literacy curriculum and literacy concepts, as well asmathematics curriculum and math concepts) while using focusedinstruction informed by assessment focusing on our at-risk students.

Stanley's Code of ConductEveryone at our school has the right to feel safe, be treated withrespect and learn.  All students will follow school & class rules androutines by adhering to the schools "Do the Right Thing" code ofconduct, solve problems by talking, display a positive attitudetoward all people, and show respect for school property & propertyof others.

Student Leadership at StanleyWe are working towards empowering the leaders for tomorrow bybuilding character and responsibility in our students. We choose amonthly character trait and have an assembly to celebrate thosestudents who have demonstrated the Future Ace/Character Traitconsistently. We also have “Aces in Action” announcements forthose students caught demonstrating a Character Trait.

Co-Curricular ActivitiesStanley hosts a wide variety of intramural events and teams. One ofour specialty programs this year was the Martial Arts-TutoringProgram (MATS). The program helps develop control and innerdiscipline and enhances our focus on character education. We alsoparticipate in specialized sports programs such as Tennis Canada;Fun and Athletics Program and Yoga for Girls.

Student Life - Where You Belong

Safe Schools Focus:When students and staff feel safe, then we can learntogether.We ensure that this happens by creating consistency ofschool rules and the enforcement of them. We also supportour students through cohesive staff involvement. We havea highly successful partnerhips with Hinks-Dellcrest andCommunity Builders that build community while supportingour students to problem solve effectively and developleadership skills.  Currently, our Young Women on the Moveclub addresses the issue of positive friendships and positiveself esteem and is supported by our Ryerson Nursingstudents year long.   Reading skills are emphasized throughBoys Read to Succeed, and Silver Birch Club. Buildingconnections within the community is also modelled for thestudents at Stanley. We have high school mentorship andco-op students who are part of the Big Brother’s/Big Sister’sprogram, and our partnership with the St.Clement's school provide valuable tutoring and mentorship to our students asdoes the Exercise to Success high school studentmentorship program led by TDSB Social Workers.  

What Sets Us Apart

Children's Breakfast Club/Healthy Snack Program: Thispartnership with the Children's Breakfast Club provides ourstudents with hot breakfast each morning. TheBreakast Club is instrumental in accessing and providingvaluable opportunities for our students. (Ex. gift of new bikeswithin the Bike Safety Rodeo, gr. 5 day trip to Ottawa) First Lego LeagueSpecialized Instruction:  We ensure that all of our studentshave the opportunity to participate in Dancing Classrooms,Artist in the School, Scientist in the School & Media Literacysessions.Pathway Day Professional Development: Creativescheduling allows for an hour of professional developmentopportunity for each grade team for planning appropriateprograms for our diverse learners.
