THOMAS W. FORD AWARDPresented to the team whose student-athletes have demonstrated a special commitment to participation in local community outreach programs.

LACROSSEStanford lacrosse has continually been involved and active in not only local, but national community outreach ... spearheaded by senior Charlotte Ward, the team created and implemented a campaign to support the One Love Foundation, including a PSA video, which exceeded 31K views on social media, while working in tangent with the Pac-12 Network on an additional piece to showcase the organization ... dedicated its game on April 11 against Cal to the One Love Foundation, showcasing its support of ending relationship violence ... the work on the campaign was unparalleled by a university institution ... in addition, the team participated in a run during the fall in support of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation ... also worked with the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative.

ALSO CONSIDERED: men’s basketball, women’s volleyball/beach volleyball.

SHERRY POSTHUMUS CLUB SPORTS TEAM OF THE YEAR AWARDPresented to the club sports team that attains the highest standard of athletic performance or that demonstrated a special commitment to participation in local community outreach programs.

WOMEN’S ULTIMATE FRISBEEStanford (also known as Stanford Superfly) cemented its mark in college ultimate by winning the 2016 USA Ultimate Division I National Championship ... Stanford Superfly defeated the Whitman Sweets (Whitman College) 12-10 in a hard-fought battle that included intense drama, lead changes and incredible acrobatic highlights between both squads ... Stanford’s victory not only earned its eighth national championship since 1995, but also solidified its position as the winningest program in college ultimate history ... Stanford was the only No. 1 seed that completed its pool play undefeated (4-0) with victories against Michigan, Ohio State, USC and Washington ... after a dominant quarterfinals showing against Colorado (15-5), Stanford defeated reigning champion Oregon in thrilling fashion with a 15-13 upset to avenge its loss in last year’s final ... senior Monisha White and graduate student Courtney Gregg were both selected as members of the 2016 All-Tournament Team to cap off the hallmark year.

BOB MURPHY AWARDPresented to the student-athlete whose unforgettable performance in an athletic contest will secure a place in Stanford Athletics history.

FRANCIS OWUSUFOOTBALL – SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETYThe John and Kathy Kissick Football Scholarship The Russell B. Jarvis Endowed Athletic ScholarshipJunior Francis Owusu’s mind-boggling, behind-the-opponent’s-back-after-a-trick-play catch happened in Stanford’s 56-35 win over UCLA. It is considered by many to be the greatest

catch in college football history. The play’s design was complex: Christian McCaffrey handed off to speedster Bryce Love on a supposed sweep, but Love pitched back to quarterback Kevin Hogan, who had initially lined up out wide. Hogan then lofted an intentionally underthrown bomb to Owusu, who somehow caught the pass in the midst of heavy pass interference -- by reaching around Bruin defender Jaleel Wadood and pressing the ball against his opponent’s back. Owusu essentially caught both Wadood and the football. “I still can’t describe that catch,” head coach David Shaw said. “I still don’t know what happened. I was told my facial expression was all over TV. I still feel the same way now.”

ALSO CONSIDERED:Maverick McNealy, golf: Maverick McNealy won the Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club by two shots over Oregon’s Aaron Wise. Coming into the final round, McNealy trailed Wise by one shot before shooting 64 for the second consecutive day. His total score of 16-under-par (66-64-64) not only broke the 70-year-old

tournament scoring record, but also broke the Stanford golf scoring record as the lowest score in any tournament in the history of the program. As one of the oldest events in college golf, dozens of PGA Tour players have won the Western Intercollegiate, including multiple major tournament champions (Johnny Miller, Ken Venturi, and Mark O’Meara are just three examples), yet none have matched McNealy’s score.

Jordan Morris, soccer: Jordan Morris was named the Most Outstanding Player at the College Cup after leading the Cardinal to the program’s first NCAA title with a two-goal performance in the championship in December. Stanford routed Clemson, 4-0, the largest margin of victory in a College Cup final since 1975. The win extended

the school’s record streak of at least one NCAA team championship to 40 years. Morris’ two goals were the first multi-goal effort for a player in a title game since 1997. In early January he capped a storybook collegiate career when he became the first Stanford men’s player to win the MAC Hermann Trophy, college soccer’s highest honor.

Harrison Williams, track and field: Harrison Williams broke the American junior decathlon record on Aug. 1 in Edmonton, scoring a meet-record 8,037 points to win the gold medal at the Pan Am Junior Track and Field Championships, which crowned the champions of the Western Hemisphere for those 19 and under. Competing for the United States,

Williams needed at least 4:32.00 in the final event, the 1,500 meters, to break the 8,018 mark set by Gunnar Nixon in 2012. Williams responded with a personal-record 4:29.20, collapsing in exhaustion upon reaching the finish line. This was the crowning achievement to an outstanding junior career for Williams, who owns four of the top 10 all-time U.S. performances and a national high school record, and won two U.S. championships.
