The Form A Language subtest for Primary 1-TASK 3 uses a traditional approach that measures language proficiency through the assessment of language mechanics and expression. This full day event is a great follow-up to a post-test work-shop conducted by your Measurement Consultant. It offers participants a model for thinking about what student data is collected and how it is used to make data-driven decisions regarding students, curriculum and systems. Using Stanford 10 reports, participants will learn how to read reports and analyze their data to support students by differentiating instruction. Participants have the opportunity to discuss the interpretation of those results using worksheets that are provided in the Guide for Classroom Planning. Participants prioritize standards that need more concentration based on several criteria, and address how to make flexible grouping decisions as a strategy to meet learner needs.

Examples of teaching strategies that differentiate instruction are provided so that participants may apply those strategies in the school/class setting. Activities covered are intended to model strategies for differentiating instructional content, processes, and final products, in several different topic areas and not necessarily to provide actual lesson plans using a specific curriculum. To make the most out of this session, a local facilitator should send sample reports from the district/school to the trainer 6-8 weeks in advance of the session. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own data to use during the session.
