THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2017 | 6:00PM RECEPTION 7:30PM PROGRAMARENA STAGE AT THE MEAD CENTER FOR AMERICAN THEATER
Join us at our annual awards reception as we set aside an evening to honor five outstanding D.C. Champions: Rick Bress of Latham & Watkins; Rubie Coles of the Moriah Fund; Jim Dinegar of the Greater Washington Board of Trade; Maria Gomez of Mary’s Center; and Laurie Wingate of Raise DC.
Our keynote speaker will be Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who is a strong advocate of D.C. voting rights and is an ally of the District on many of the issues important to local residents.
Our theme for the evening is “Standing up for D.C.” and we will have a panel discussion with local leaders who are helping the District and the region deal with the actions of Congress and the Presidential administration. The participants in this panel discussion are: Beverly Perry, Senior Adviser to Mayor Bowser; Councilmember Mary Cheh; Chuck Bean, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; and Wade Henderson, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Tom Sherwood of NBC4 will be the moderator.
The evening will begin with a reception at the Mead Center for American Theater’s rooftop terrace at 6:00pm with food and drink, and then at 7:30pm we will adjourn to the Kogod Cradle Theatre for the evening’s program.
