MACHINES USED

For cost savings, pads can be cleaned and re-used. Clean by using a high pressure spray nozzle to remove fresh debris. Pads may be soaked in detergent or diluted stripping solution to dissolve heavy embedded soil or finish.

Swirling and powdering are the result of a floor pad that is too aggressive for the floor finish. Move to a softer, less aggressive floor pad. If scuff marks and scratches are not being removed, move to a more aggressive pad.

NON-WOVEN HAND AND UTILITY PADSA complete offering from non-abrasive polishing pads to aggressive, heavy duty cleaning pads. Hand and utility pads are made from a non-woven, nylon fiber web that can be surface coated or completely impregnated with abrasive grain and bonded with synthetic resins. The unique manufacturing process produces a uniform dispersement of abrasive grain throughout the web for consistent coverage.

Tough and resilient, Norton utility pads resist snagging or tearing and will not shred. Additionally, they can be used wet or dry, will not rust, oxidize or cause metal contamination.

BETWEEN COAT SANDING DISC AND SCREEN DRIVERSOur patent-pending design allows you to smooth and prep the surface of the floor to properly accept the next coat of finish without the risk of nasty swirl marks. We offer four grits: coarse, medium, fine and very fine to accommodate any application. The foam backing pad allows the product to abrade the surface without penetrating deep into the finish, resulting in a smoother overall floor.

BUFFING ON STAINBuffing on stain is a technique that is gaining in popularity due to the time savings over traditional method sand the use of fewer materials, like rags and stain.Our screen driver pads in tandem with our maroon conditioning pads create the perfect system for applying stain with a rotary buffer. The unique design of the screen driver pad allows it to hold and apply stain evenly on the floor without slinging. The maroon pad (with 7" center removed) is placed on top of the screen driver pad. This center hole creates a “trough” where the stain is poured. This system is then driven with either a screen driver or maroon pad on the buffer drive plate. The screen driver and maroon pad remain on the floor during the process. The operator only needs to tip back the buffer to add more stain to the “trough.” This makes for less mess.

TECH TIP

BETWEEN COATSDon’t over use your abrasive product when abrading between coats of finish. A worn out abrasive will still dull the surface, but it may not be putting the proper scratch into the finish to get a good mechanical bond for the next coat of finish. If the surface isn’t abraded properly, you can wind up with finish peeling, flaking and chipping. It’s a lot less expensive to use a few more abrasive products on the job than to go and re-sand a job because of finish failure.
