Purpose

Demonstrate Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) operational capabilities in a complex airspace

• Combine on-board RNAV/RNP functionality (receiver) with GBAS for improved straight-in and curved path capabilities for approach & landing to all runway ends

• Solve airspace congestion issues

• Build user base - controller & pilot operational experience

• Reduce airspace separation between current New York Area Airports for more independent operations, including closely spaced parallel runways
