EARLY BIRD SPECIAL

Wednesday evening gather ‘round for a laughing-good time for “Ghost Blasters”. The Gaslight is a down-home comedy theater set in a western motif. You get the feeling of a western saloon from the 1800’s with raw wood and checkered tablecloths.

Early Bird Special for WAOUM

Limited tickets available for full enjoyment of the show, with

seats assigned as reservations are received. You MUST go to the

LOSNA registration room on Wednesday by 4pm to get your tickets and badges to attend this event. Bus leaves at 5:45, Doors open at 6:15 and show starts at 7:00 PM

If you plan on driving yourself, ask the registration desk for a map - there is plenty of parking available.

Must be able to climb 2 to 3 stair steps.

It all started back in 1977 when Tony Terry Jr along with some friends from the University of

Arizona headed to Alaska then started the “Mighty Moose Melodrama Theatre” with the first

production called “Gold Fever! Or Danger at Bonanza Creek!” After this successful show, they returned

to Tucson to open the Gaslight Theatre. Most of the performers have been with the theater long-term.

Many are sure to laugh a lot and enjoy the atmosphere in the original productions. Food and

drinks are available to purchase. The production “Ghost Blasters” is tentatively set to occur during

your stay.

Kartchner Caverns State Park

Rotunda/Throne Tour Box lunch provided. Meet the bus at 8:00 back by 4:00-ish.

This tour is a half of a mile in length and takes approximately an hour and a half to complete, 50 minutes of which is underground. Discover the role that water plays in creating the caverns. You will see the discoverers' original trail, 45,000-year-old bat guano, delicate formations and “Kubla Khan,” the largest column formation in Arizona.

All tours are led by a trained guide, no self-guided tours are available. Various tours are scheduled daily. No items (bags, cameras, cell phones, backpack carriers, purses, packs, bottled water, strollers, etc) are allowed into the cave while on tour; however, lockers are available at the park to store these items.

Please note video or photography is not permitted inside the cave.

The cave has an average temperature of 70° Fahrenheit (21° Celsius) and 99 percent humidity year-round. Most areas are dimly lit, and some passages may pass through narrow or enclosed areas. This may be difficult for persons with mobility, respiratory or claustrophobia issues. See our Accessibility Information for more details.

If you or your loved one struggles with elevated grades, please include a friend/caregiver to assist you in difficult areas. There are several areas in the cave where the trail grade exceeds 12%. Grade changes do occur frequently. Inside the cavern, there are a few narrow passage and sharp turns.

Gloves with a good grip surface may help. Ability staff indicated that their hand rims were damp and slick

from the humid air. There are handrails throughout and flat resting spots at regular resting spots on the

trail. There are short stretches where the rail does not exist.

Wheelchair Specifications and Loaner Chairs: Most motorized and manual wheelchairs may be used in the cave. Due to the limits of the trail dimensions, certain chairs may be restricted. Wheelchairs with a seat width of 18” or less and an overall width of 30” are permissible.

Wheelchair Loaners: Manual wheelchairs are available for loan at the Discovery Center.

Limited Mobility: Crutches and walkers are not allowed on tours but canes with rubber tips and walkers w/hand brakes are allowed. Motorized scooters are allowed on tours but due to the dimensions of the trails, some limitations exist. Scooters should have a width of 30” or less and a total length of 40” or less. If your scooter exceeds these dimensions, you may use a Parks wheelchair.

Pima Air and Space Museum

Pima Air & Space Museum Lunch on your own at museum deli.

Bus leaves at 9:30 AM. Pima Air & Space Museum does not have wheelchairs available.

The Pima Air & Space Museum is one of the largest non-government funded aviation and space museums in the world! Featuring over 350 historical aircrafts, from a Wright Flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. Sitting on 80 acres, the museum, opened its doors to the public in May 1976. Over the past 40 years, the museum has grown immensely and today encompasses six indoor exhibit handers (three dedicated to WWII).

Docent-led walking tours and museum ground tram tours are offered daily. (Not included as extra charges apply). The museum is the exclusive operator of bus tours of the 2,600 acre “Aircraft Boneyard”/US military and government aircraft storage facility.

All the museum buildings are accessible. The floors are poured cement. A paved walkway connects the main hangar, hangar 3, 4 and 5 while the remainder of the outdoor acreage is generally hard-packed dirt. It can be difficult for a thin-wheeled vehicle to move easily in the areas with loose sand when viewing the 150 aircraft outdoors.

Mission San Xavier del Bac

Included with Tubac Tour - Bus departs 9:30.

A National Historic Landmark, San Xavier Mission was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797.

The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings. It is a place where visitors can truly step back in time and enter an authentic 18th Century space.

The church retains its original purpose of ministering to the religious needs of its parishioners. The current church dates from the late 1700's, when Southern Arizona was part of New Spain. In 1783, Franciscan missionary Fr. Juan Bautista Velderrain was able to begin construction on the present structure using money borrowed from a Sonoran rancher. He hired an architect, Ignacio Gaona, and a large workforce of O'odham to create the present church.

Following Mexican independence in 1821, San Xavier became part of Mexico. The last resident Franciscan of the 19th Century departed in 1837. With the Gadsden Purchase of 1854, the Mission joined the United States. In 1859 San Xavier became part of the Diocese of Santa Fe. In 1866 Tucson became an incipient diocese and regular services were held at the Mission once again. Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet opened a school at the Mission in 1872. Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity now teach at the school and reside in the convent.

The Franciscans returned to the Mission in 1913. Recently, Mission San Xavier became a separate nonprofit entity. It remains a testament to the endurance of culture throughout our history.

The mission has a museum that explains more about the history with artifacts. The best way to experience is to begin with a 20-minute video which talks about the history of the Mission and its restoration. Then walk through the museum and look at the artifacts that give you a sense of the history and the way people lived here at the Mission.

Established in 1752 as a Spanish Presidio (fort), Tubac now hosts working artists whose studios surround the former parade grounds. Old town features the colorful history where outdoor displays and an excellent museum bring art to life.
