STAINLESS STEEL EXPANSION JOINT
PRODUCT SHEET
The standard axial expansion joint is the most common ex-
pansion joint. It is an assembly of a bellow welded together
with the connections. Possible connections are welding
ends or flanges.
The standard axial expansion joint can absorb movements
caused by temperature differences in a piping system
It is mainly designed to absorb movements along the axis
of the pipes.
Also lateral and angular movements can be absorbed.
> DESCRIPTION
> KEY FEATURES
Absorbs movements in all directions,
but it is most appropriate axial
movements.
Pressure thrust not restrained: reaction
pressure force acts on piping.
Standard grade of bellow is AISI 316.
Flanges are standard made out of zinc plated
steel for swivel flanges and carbon steel with
corrosion protection for fixed flanges.
Stainless steel flanges are also available.
Pipe-ends and bund rings are manufactured
in AISI 316 grade.
> MATERIAL PROPERTIES
The bellow is designed according to the most re-
cent EJMA standards.
Assembly is done according to EN 14917 / ISO
15348. Assemblies are possible with welding
ends (ASME B36.10), flanges according to
European standard (EN 1092-1) or
ANSI standard (ASME B16.5).
Flanges according JIS standard (JIS B2220) are
also possible on request.

Application where axial movement has to be
absorbed. An expansion joint is necessary
between the intermediate anchor (IA) and
both main anchors (MA).
This shows an application where axial as well
as lateral movements have to be absorbed.
The pipe extension or contraction between
the intermediate anchor IA and directional
main anchor DMA, which can only move in
one direction, creates a small lateral move-
ment. Contraction/extension between the
points DMA and MA causes axial movement.
