Writing Warm up - Optional Task: ❏ Use what you did over the weekend as a stimulus for writing. You can choose to write or narrate to persuade, inform
or to entertain. If you choose to write to persuade you might choose to write a story titled ‘My weekend was the Best weekend Ever,’ if you choose to write to inform you might write a factual recount of what you did on the weekend and if you choose to write to entertain you may use what you did on the weekend as the basis for an imaginary story.

Activity 1: Take a piece of paper and fold or cut it to represent different fractions e.g. thirds, quarters, sixths, eights.
Activity 2: Use a pack of cards to make different fractions. Flip over two cards putting the smaller number on the top (numerator) and the larger number on the bottom (denominator). Now draw the fraction.
❏ How many of these can you make in 20 minutes?
❏ Challenge yourself: Put the bigger number on top, and the smaller number on the bottom. How does this change the activity? What do you notice?
