Sub :- Staff position of the branch

We want to bring to your kind attention the fact that we are facing the problem of acute staff shortage since last 8 months. While the business of the branch has increased substancially during this period [from Rs 5700 lacs to Rs 6300 lascs approx ] the staff strength has gone down substancially . Till last year we were having following staff at our branch

1] Officers 2 (including BM)2] Spl Assist 13] Clerks 44] Permanent sub staff 25] PTS 1

In the month of October 2013 our permanent PTS was transferred to Kur Branch and no reliever was provided in his place. In December 2013 one of our permanent sub staff was expired and no replacement is provided till date. Now the remaining permanent sub staff has applied for voluntary retirement which is sanctioned and he will be retiring from Bank services from this month end.

Since April 2014 one of our clerk is on maternity leave and is not likely to join the duties till November 2014. Now another clerk stands transferred to Pune City Region and we have not received any order for replacement of this clerk.

In July 2014 deputy manager of our brnach was transferred to Adkur Branch and no replacement is provided till date.

In short we are facing acute staff shortage in all cadres while business and work load of the branch is increasing every day and this is creating problems in the day to day working of the branch.

The branch always faces the problem of accumulation of cash on daily basis and our average outward cash remittance per week is more than Rs 70 lacs. Due to such a work loan we need at least 3 clerks on the counter and 2 passing officers for day to day working of the branch every day. At present we are having only 3 clerks on duty and one Spl Asstt and one officer i.e. BM which is bare minimum for day to day working of the branch. If any of the clerk or the Spl Asstt or BM goes on leave the available staff is not sufficient even for the day to day working of the branch.

Secondly in spite of our rigorous efforts the NPAs of our branch have gone up from Rs 290 lacs ( March 2014) to Rs 360 lacs (July 2014) which needs constant follow up and dailly monitoring which we are unable to do as we have to spend most of our time in day to day management of the branch due to acute staff shortage.

Hence we request you to provide one officer, one clerk and at least one permanent sub staff to the branch for smooth working. In addition to the acute staff shortage it is learnt that State Bank of India and Corpotration Bank are going to open their branches at Bidri which will create stiff competition for business. If we have to take up the challenge of this competition and maintain the momentom of growth we feel that adequate staff is a must for our branch.
