Studentsleep

Thestudentsurveysbeganwithquestionsaboutsleepandscheduling.Studentsingrades5-12reportedbelow-normallevelsofsleep,reportinglesssleepwitheachprogressinggrade.TheaveragesleepreportedforstudentsinGrades5-6was8.3h.Theaveragesleepreportedforhighschoolstudentswas6.6h.Bygrade12,studentsreportedanaverageof6.2h.

Optionsforstudents

Twodifferentsurveyswereadministeredtostudentsingrades5-12duringschoolhours.Grades5-6werepresentedwithfouroptionsthatweredescribedintermsofschoolstartandendtimesthatwouldcorrespondwiththeoptionspresentedtoMasconometstudents,withdescriptionsoftheimpactsontheirelementaryschedules.Grades7-12werepresentedwithfouroptionswhosetimesandschedulesalignedwiththeparentandstaffsurvey,butwithoutthelogisticalandcostvariationsthatwerepresentedtoparentsandstaff.
