Next Sunday’s Readings:
Exodus 3:1-8a, 13-15 1Corinthians 10:1-6, 10-12
Luke 13:1-9
Today’s first reading describes the offering of first fruits the people of Israel were to present to the Lord in thanksgiving for their deliverance from Egypt and the gift of the promised land. Is my offering at today’s Mass an appropriate response to the many blessings the Lord has given me?

STEWARDSHIP OF TALENT Thank you to the Men’s Cornerstone Team, our gracious host for coffee and snacks at last month’s Hospitality. Make a note; our next get-together will be March 18th 10am-12:15pm. Come into the Parish Center before or after Mass and visit.
Pray For Vocations
“This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to Him?” When Christ calls, the Father tells us to listen. This is true not just in the realm of morals and faith, but also in the realm of what we are supposed to do with our lives. Christ calls each of us to a special place in His kingdom, and these are manifest in the roles, which we fulfill in the Church. Have you questioned what vocation Christ wants for you? If so, you may want to explore the possibility of priesthood or religious life. The Office of Vocations is here to help explore that question with you, and if you would like, contact the Office of Vocations at 973.497.4365 or [email protected].
Right to Life
For the safety of all children: that God might give us the grace to recognize the infinite value of every human life, from conception to natural death;
We pray to the Lord
WISDOM OF THE CHURCH
Sins that are the easiest to amend bring the greatest punishment.
- St. John Chrysostom.

2007 LENTEN REGULATIONS
The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence.
On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permitted. Those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast.
On a day of Abstinence, no meat may be eaten. Those who have reached the age of 14 are obliged by the law of abstinence.
The obligation to observe the laws of Fast and Abstinence “substantially”, or as a whole, is a serious obligation.
The Fridays of the year, outside of Lent, are designated as days of penance, but each individual may substitute for the traditional abstinence from meat some other practice of voluntary self-denial as penance.
The time for fulfilling the Paschal Precept (Easter Duty*) extends from the First Sunday of Lent, February 25, 2007 to the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, June 3, 2007.

MASS BOOK FOR 2008 TO OPEN Tuesday, March 6th, 10:00am – 2:00pm In the Parish Center We will be scheduling Masses for January through December of 2008. At this time, we will be taking intentions for 7:30 a.m.
and 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and all weekend Masses. As usual, we ask that you please limit the number of Masses you reserve. Perhaps a birthday or anniversary might be an initial date – thus giving all Parishioners the opportunity to reserve the dates and times they may wish. Another way to remember your deceased loved ones would be to make donations to our Memorial Fund. The Memorial Fund allows us to purchase needed Vestments, Altar Linens, Vessels, etc. to be used at the celebration of Mass. Also available are Sanctuary Offerings which include the Sanctuary Candles in Church, the Rectory and the Convent. They burn weekly in memory of your loved ones as well as for special intentions: birthdays, anniversaries, improved health, etc. Cards are available announcing your donation to both the Memorial Fund and the Sanctuary Candles.

Men’s Cornerstone Retreat (March 23rd – March 24th)
ALL ST. THOMAS MEN ARE INVITED
What is Cornerstone? Cornerstone is a 26-hour retreat which provides you with the opportunity to reflect renew and strengthen your faith while meeting other men in our Parish community. The retreat is hosted here at St. Thomas by a group of men from our parish who have experienced last year’s Cornerstone.
This retreat is simply a gathering of Ordinary Men sharing stories and life’s experiences. You may share in the discussion as much or as little as you choose. This is an outstanding opportunity to:
examine your relationship with God, your family and others in your life
think about those things that matter to you most in an atmosphere that lends itself to reflection and contemplation
“jump start” your sense of belonging or involvement in our parish, and enjoy the fellowship of other men who seek to build our Christian community
This is a great opportunity to step out of the hustle of daily life and meet and interact with other men of the parish, in a friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental environment.
Give yourself and our parish a gift by attending St. Thomas’ 2nd “Men’s Cornerstone”
