READING I Exodus 34:3-4, 4-9 Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the LORD had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets. God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, (please bow) who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

O Lord, give us a mind that is humble, quiet, peaceable, patient and charitable, and a taste of your Holy Spirit in all our thoughts, words, and deeds. O Lord, give us a lively faith, a firm hope, a fervent charity, a love of you. Take from us all luke-warmness in meditation and all dullness in prayer. Give us fervor and delight in thinking of you, your grace and your tender compassion toward us. O Lord, give us the grace to work for, the things we pray for. Amen
