This week’s scriptures remind us that Jesus was as rejected as a shepherd, a farm boy, yet we owe our very lives to him. In this Sunday’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles Peter tells the people that salvation comes through Jesus Christ, the one who was rejected. In John’s letter we hear that we have become God’s beloved children through Jesus, whom the world did not know. I have noticed that there are some great needs in our parish. 1. Processional cross—the current crucifix has

been welded, screwed and is almost coming off 2. Cope—the vestment that the priest uses for

adoration is torn and not usable 3. New microphone 4. Matching parish vestments for the dea-

cons and priests A parishioner already donated money for the pur-chase of a new monstrance for the parish. If there is anyone who would be willing to help acquiring these items for the parish, please let me know.

PASTOR’S MESSAGE

It was very nice to have some rain this past week. Unfortunately, we have found numerous leaks on the roof and some windows of the church, as well as a leak in the rectory. We have started to fix some of the leaks on the church, but much work still needs to be done. I have noticed that lately the collection has dropped off significantly, yet the parish financial needs still remain the same. I would encourage everyone to do your best to continue to financially support our parish to meet our weekly financial responsibilities.

As the readings reminds us this weekend, may we continue to follow the Good Shepherd so that all of us may continue to experience the grace and peace of God in our lives,

Fr. Abel

St. Thomas will be having a new retreat program with another series by Fr. Michael Gaitley titled 33 Days to Merciful Love. Like his other programs, this is a Do-It-Yourself Retreat, in which we meet as a group once a week on Sunday afternoons from 4-5:30pm to watch a film with Fr. Gaitley and dis-cuss the program in small groups. The retreat is a preparation for making a consecration to Divine Mercy, based on the spirituality of the newest Doc-tor of the Church, St. Therese of Lisieux. 33 Days to Merciful Love journeys with this beloved saint of modern times and is based on her "Offering to Merciful Love" which is the culmination of her spiritual teaching on the "Little Way of Spiritual Childhood." There will be registration in the hall after all weekend Masses. The only cost for the program is the participant packet materials for each person that cost $29.95. You can order it di-rectly from the publisher at 1-800-462-7426. And find all the information about the program and materials at the website: www.allheartsafire.org.

ANUNCIOS

"Cristo Cuenta Contigo".

Gospel: Jn 10:11-18

R. Alleluia, alleluia. I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

R. Aleluya, aleluya. Yo soy el buen pastor, dice el Señor; yo conozco a mis ovejas y ellas me

conocen a mí. R. Aleluya.

Jesus said: "I am the good shep-herd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father."

Monday: Acts 11:1-18; Ps 42:2-3; 43:3, 4; Jn 10:1-10 Tuesday: Acts 11:19-26; Ps 87:1b-7; Jn 10:22-30 Wednesday: 1 Pt 5:5b-14; Ps 89:2-3, 6-7, 16-17; Mk 16:15-20 Thursday: Acts 13:13-25: Ps 89:2-3, 21-22, 25, 27; Jn 13:16-20 Friday: Acts 13:26-33; Ps 2:6-11ab; Jn 14:1-6 Saturday: Acts 13:44-52; Ps 98:1-4; Jn 14:7-14 Sunday: Acts 9:26-31; Ps 22:26-28, 30-32; 1 Jn 3:18-24; Jn 15:1-8
