Children’s Liturgy Of the Word (CLOW) will start again in late September. CLOW is an opportunity for

our young members (three to six years old) to hear the Gospel on their level each week while older children (2nd grade and up) and adults participate in the Mass in the worship space. In order to comply with Diocesan procedures, we must have two adult leaders for each class time each week. AND both of them must have VIRTUS training. Teenagers will still be needed to assist the leaders with the lessons. Parents and other adults, if you believe that Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a worthwhile program, please consider being one of the leaders. If enough adults participate, you would only be a leader one or two weekends out of 30. Lessons will be available online and crafts will be in the classroom. If we do not get enough leaders, we will not be able to offer this instructional time for these children. If you have any questions regarding CLOW, please call the office @ 421-7416 and ask for Cathy Barrick or Karen Winslow or email [email protected].

We are hoping to restart the children's playgroup (preschoolers and younger) every other Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm. If you are interested in joining this playgroup, please contact Sarah Winkler at [email protected]. Thank you!

The Mission Group by the name of “Unbound” and father Jerry Morgan are very grateful for the warm

and generous reception which was given to them this past weekend. Because of your generosity and sharing your gifts, there are now 72 children/seniors who will be thanking God for inspiring someone to help the child/seniors out of the path of dire poverty.

ATTENTION PARENTS of children with Special Needs. We offer religious education for your child.

Call the office for information on class times, curriculum and registration. Classes are set to begin in September.

The flowers on the altar this weekend are in memory of Sandy Shepard

BLAZE TEACHERS ARE NEEDED! Prayerfully consider passing the faith on to our young members! We

need one kindergarten, 2 second grade, 1 third grade, 2 fourth grade and 2 fifth grade teachers. Co-teachers/assistants are needed all across the grade levels. If you can help, call the office. All teachers and helper must be VIRTUS trained.

VIRTUS and VOLUNTEERS ANYONE who volunteers with our children (Infant – 12th grade) for any of our

programs (BLAZE, Life Teen, CLOW, VBS and others) is required to be VIRTUS trained. To attend a class you must register on-line at www.virtusonline.org. Choose “Registration” then “view all sessions” then select the “Richmond, VA Diocese,” scroll through the sessions to find a place and time, then start the registration process. Your primary location is Saint Stephen, Martyr Chesapeake. Choose any of the roles that apply to your volunteering. There are also sessions scheduled for Christ the King in Norfolk and Little Creek Chapel between August 19th and November 16th.

OPEN HOUSE for the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

in the Church Building

At the last Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church the ancient Christian practice of a catechumenate, a period of instruction on what it means to become and live as a Christian, was restored to the Catholic Church around the world. The early Christians understood that to become a Christian meant to enter into a new way of living. It involves ongoing conversion of the whole person - body, soul, mind and spirit. Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ leads to a whole new way of life in His Body, the Church. Are you interested in the Catholic Christian Faith? Do you know someone who has expressed an interest in becoming a Catholic Christian? Do you know someone who was baptized into the Catholic Church as a child, but has not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? Are you, or do you know someone, who is a Christian of another community interested in - or intrigued by the Catholic Church – with questions about the Catholic faith? Are you a practicing Catholic who wants to more fully and completely understand your own Catholic faith? Come to this OPEN HOUSE.
