Today’s Meditation

Two of today’s readings make it quite clear that God is on the side of the poor. Amos describes in detail the exploitation of the poor and needy. The psalm repeats that God acts to benefit the poor and lowly. But Luke turns things upside down, telling a tale of a conflicted steward, about to be fired, who demonstrates his

cleverness and is rewarded. Like the community to whom Paul writes in Timothy, these readings are personal, directed to believers, members of the Jewish and Christian communities, who struggle to deal with personal choices about how to conduct their lives. They offer an outline for how God wishes us to live in a world as complicated and as confusing as our own.

Our Mission Statement

In recognition of God’s love and presence in every human being, the members of Saint Stanislaus Parish embrace the challenge to serve God and all His people. In fellowship with one another, we nurture our Catholic Faith through the celebration of the sacraments and reflection on the word of God. As a welcoming and culturally diverse Faith Community, we strive to proclaim and live the good News of Jesus Christ while providing for the spiritual and physical needs of those less fortunate.

Evangelization News!

These excerpts each week come from the book Pillar of Fire Pillar of Truth

Jesus chose the apostles to be the earthly leaders of the Church. He gave them his own authority to teach and to govern—not as dictators but as loving pastors and fathers. That is why Catholics call their spiritual leaders “father.” In doing so we follow Paul’s example: “I became your father in Jesus Christ through the gospel” (1 Cor. 4:15). The apostles, fulfilling Jesus’ will, ordained bishops, priests, and deacons and thus handed on their apostolic ministry to them—the fullest degree of ordination to the Bishops, lesser degrees to the priests and deacons. For more information about our Evangelization Ministry please contact: Joyce Lemon at: 910-262-2131

Bereavement

Our Bereavement Committee is an expression of sympathy from St. Stanislaus Parish when a parishioner has a death in their immediate family. The committee, along with other volunteers prepares food and serves the funeral luncheon if it is requested. We are looking to update our current list since some volunteers are no longer with us. If you would like to volunteer in any way, whether cooking, set up of clean up, please call one of the numbers listed below to let us know what you are willing to do. Our hope is that if we have enough volunteers we will not need to call on them for every funeral. This ministry is one of the most caring ministries as it allows us to help those who need a comforting meal and a loving social time with their family and friends.

You may contact Pat Krzyzewski at (607) 727-3488 or Helen Rice at (910) 604– 2499 or

Teresa Forman at (914) 805-2339. Thank You!
