The very idea to make the Forum a must for quite a number of lawyers has been brought to life. I am pleased to see a lot of my colleagues, leading experts from many different countries who represent a variety of law and legal science fields. I can see many new faces here — this wonderful auditorium allows me to see them. Many participants came here last year and the year before. This testifies to the popularity of the Forum.

PARTICIPANTS ABOUT THE FORUM
Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
About 3,000 of our colleagues — professional lawyers — are attending the Forum. This shows that the Forum has become a generally accepted platform for meetings, interaction and discussion of various issues.
St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is a historic event for the development of law in the world.
The St. Petersburg Forum shows that Russia is still at the heart of international legal development. It offers a unique opportunity to a wide circle of international jurists to come and discuss many types of legal issues. This gives us an opportunity to work together for a better future given how numerous and diverse the topics on our agenda are. I must say that we have been very pleased to take an active part in this Forum just as we did in the previous Forums, and we thank the organisers for that.
I enjoy participation in the Forum; it is stimulating, informing and most interesting. And, it is certainly international in character and content. Your statistics reflect the broad and encompassing participation in the forum and all observers, certainly including myself, find it a positive and refreshing experience.
Julio Cesar Alak, Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Argentine Republic
Christophe Bernasconi, Secretary General, the Hague Conference on Private International Law
Sidney Brooks, Judge, United States Bankruptcy Court

PARTICIPANTS ABOUT THE FORUM
Charles Ogletree,Professor, Harvard University
I am glad to take part in St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. The business programme is perfect; discussion sessions are very promising and their quality is on the highest level as well!
Each year the Forum sparks a great interest. The best evidence is geography of countries, members of the SPBILF. Globalization requires integration of national legal systems. Therefore both government authorities and lawyers of public sectors have a great interest to this event.
The Forum has become even more representative. The idea of the Russian party was that the Forum is attended not only by judges, but also by business and government representatives. I need to say that establishing contacts with various organizations is important, but personal contacts are no less important.
It is important that legislators, judges, academics and practitioners get together regularly to confront their experience. I am aware of — and have participated in — a number of regional forums that boast the same ambition; none matches the ambition and quality venue of St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
Berik Imashev, Minister of Justice of the Republiс of Kazakhstan
Susan Braden,Judge, United States Court of Federal Claims
Georges Affaki,Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Banking Commission

PARTICIPANTS ABOUT THE FORUM
Miguel de Serpa Soares, Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel
The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is a very prestigious event, well known across the world. I feel very honored and pleased to participate in the Forum and to have the opportunity of addressing this distinguished audience. Thank you!
The Forum is very impressive. I was happy to meet so many colleagues here. I think it is very important that this Forum is a chance to meet, is a chance to keep the dialogs between all the countries. Let’s build bridges and keep the dialogue. I am deeply impressed by this wonderful city of St. Petersburg, and it is a great pleasure and honor for me to participate in this legal forum as representative of Austria.
I am really honored, as a President of the Governing Council of UNIDROIT and personally as a law professor who closely follows the interaction between the institutions, the economy and the law, to have been given the chance to attend and to speak on a prestigious and important event such as the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. My hope and my wishes are the Forum will continue to be a crossroad for exchange of ideas and increase of the awareness that peace can only be safely built on cultural understanding economic cooperation.
I have a very positive impression. I think that this was fruitful exchange of opinions, which can foster the progress in relations between the countries, a strong impulse for creation of supranational law, which will allow to resolve main global problems in a peaceful manner. The main issues are the role of law and how the law is legally designed on international level, how the conditions for the global law are created, and what are the main political ties of this process.
Wolfgang Brandstetter, Federal Minister of Justice of the Republic of Austria
Alberto Mazzoni, President, International Institute for the Unification of Private Law
Andrea Orlando, Minister of Justice of the Italian Republic
