Pastor's Corner - April 22, 2018 In my homily last weekend, I spoke about radiating Christ. The following are prayers that I mentioned. I hope you enjoy them. - Fr. Tim

“I used to pray that God would feed the hungry, or do this or that, but now I pray that He will guide me to do whatever I'm supposed to do, what I can do. I used to pray for answers, but now I'm praying for strength. I used to believe that prayer changes things, but now I know that prayer changes us and we change things.” - Saint Teresa of Calcutta

“People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."- Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Dear Jesus, help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go. Flood our souls with Your Spirit and Life. Penetrate and possess our whole being, so utterly,that our lives may only be a radiance of Yours. Shine through us, and be so in us, that every soul we come in contact with may feel Your presence in our soul. Let them look up and see no longer us but only Jesus! Stay with us and then we shall begin to shine, as You shine; So to shine as to be a light to others; The light, O Jesus, will be all from You, none of it will be ours; It will be You shining on others through us. Let us thus praise You in the way You love best, by shining on those around us. Let us preach you without preaching, not by words by by our example, by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do, the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to You. Amen. - Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman

Lord, make me a channel of your peace,

That where there is hatred, I may bring love; Where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness; Where there is discord, I may bring harmony; Where there is error, I may bring truth; Where there is doubt, I may bring faith; Where there is despair, I may bring hope; Where there are shadows, I may bring light; Where there is sadness, I may bring joy;

Lord, grant I may seek rather To comfort than to be comforted; To understand than to be understood; To love than to be loved;

For it is by forgetting self That one finds, It is by forgiving That one is forgiven, It is by dying That one awakens to eternal life.

Amen.

- Prayer of St. Francis as prayed by Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Amen.

- Oración de San Francisco rezada por Santa Teresa de Calcuta

Vacation Bible School will be held from June 11th - 15th this year. Our theme is “Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus”. Pictured to the left is our new friend Moe who will help our children discover that “when they are powerless, Jesus rescues”! Kids will have incredible Bible learning experiences

that they can see, touch and even taste! We need many adult and teen leaders to help the program run smoothly. If you would like to help make this a memorable week, stop by and see DRE Michael T. Barrett in the parish office. You can also contact him at (706-884-4224) or via email at [email protected].

Our Grief Support Group will meet this Monday, April 23rd, in the Library at 6:30pm. All interested parishioners are encouraged to attend.

C.R.A.S.E. Class

A ’Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events’ class will be offered on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. The class is open to all interested parishioners, and greeters, ushers, and catechists are highly encouraged to attend.

Catholic Home Missions

The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next week. One way that this appeal works to strengthen home mission dioceses in the United States is by funding seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioceses, where educating each seminarian can cost $35,000-40,000 per year. Your support is needed for these young men so they might go back and serve their parishes. Please

strengthen the Church at home by making a generous gift to next week’s appeal.

Youth Group - Trivia Fundraiser

The Youth Group will be hosting a Trivia Night fundraiser on Saturday, April 28th in the Parish Hall following the 6:00pm Mass.

First Communion Students

Please pray for the 19 children who will be receiving First Communion on May 6th at the 11:00 Mass.
