~ Pondering Our Faith with Pastor Jack ~
PSALM 139:7-12
7 Can I go anywhere apart from Your Spirit?
Is there anywhere I can go to escape Your watchful presence?
8 If I go up into heaven, You are there.
If I make my bed in the realm of the dead, You are there.
9 If I ride on the wings of morning,
if I make my home in the most isolated part of the ocean,
10 Even then You will be there to guide me;
Your right hand will embrace me, for You are always there.
11 Even if I am afraid and think to myself, “There is no doubt that the
darkness will swallow me,
the light around me will soon be turned to night,”
12 You can see in the dark, for it is not dark to Your eyes.
For You the night is just as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are the same to Your eyes.
I Looked For You Today [J.W. Davies]
The morning sun struggles to rise through the early morning haze
Still, I have this growing hope that you will yet arrive;
My eyes strain against the horizon, anxiously looking for your arrival…
But I fear you are delayed.
I saw a strange little sea bird glide gracefully across the water’s surface
Only to halt, abruptly, and plunge headlong into the abyss.
Bobbing, almost gleefully, upon the choppy waves,
She shakes her head as if trying to heal an injured neck…
Still you have not come.
This fowl act is imitated endlessly by others in the flock,
Lorded over by the stoic loon, seemingly unconcerned, immoveable in
his stance.
“One must do what one must do,” comes the silent reply,
Seemingly unencumbered with the meaning or purpose of it all …
Yet, you have not arrived.
Continued on next page……….
Continued from previous page………
A lone sailboat, tiny sails erect in the growing
breeze, sits spinning;
Another silent witness with no one to direct her
course.
Incessantly moving in a circle, constrained by her
anchor,
She exhibits only a feigned independence …
Where are you?
Ah, the warmth of the morning sun, the clouds
melting away,
Lights upon my face as a radiance begins to grow;
Fish break the water’s surface, as if in a dance,
Life is nothing new, it’s been here all the time…
Have you come any closer?
Human activity begins to swell, a natural part of
this once silent space,
Reluctantly, I embrace it for I can do naught else.
“It is what it is,” earthly wisdom would speak
If only I were in a position to hear…
I sense you are not far away, now.
Suddenly I see myself in that strange little bird, flit-
ting and halting,
Sometimes bobbing on the waves of life, gratefully
only slightly injured.
I am the sailboat, often spinning but solidly an-
chored,
discovering my total dependence on you…
You have been here all the time … as you always
are!
Recognition of New Life in Christ - Resurrection
- is just the beginning!

LIFELINE SCREENING WILL BE HERE AT ST. PAUL’S: Lifeline is bringing an important service here
on Friday, March 6th. As many of you may not know, stroke is a leading cause of death today, affecting over
750,000 people each year. Every 45 seconds in America, someone suffers a stroke and every 3 minutes, someone
dies from one. This means that during the next 45 minutes, approximately 15 people in the United States will
have died due to a stroke. Stroke can change your life, but it can also take your life. Please consider taking part
in these life-saving screenings. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. By signing up for this health event,
not only will you be able to take your health into your own hands, but you will also receive $10 off any
package of $129 or more. The Stroke, Vascular & Heart Rhythm Package includes four screenings: carotid ar-
tery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and atrial fibrillation. Join in the fight against vascu-
lar disease!. There are flyers located in the hallway of the church. For more information and to schedule your
appointment and to receive this special offer, please sign up only by either calling our members-only phone num-
ber, which is 1-888-653-6441 or by visiting www.lifelinescreening.com/community-partners.
Board of Christian Education
Despite the cold temperatures and multiple snow storms, the Board of Christian Education and Sunday
School classes continued to be busy throughout the winter. In January, all of the Sunday School classes created
and sent cards or letters to our shut-in members to remind them that we are always thinking of them! In class, we
have been continuing our journey through The Story Children’s Curriculum. This journey has included the sto-
ries of Samson, Ruth, Samuel, and David. We have also spent sometime learning about our church as well. The
boys and girls are learning that church is not a building…it is the people and the actions of the people that make
up the church. They have also learned that there are many, many ways to be involved in our church and that
every person has an important role in St. Paul’s regardless of age or size.
Due to snow and cold temperatures, we were unable to hold our Pocket Flag Sunday back in February.
We have rescheduled this activity for March 8th at 9:00. Please come out and join the boys and girls as we fold
flags for our deployed soldiers.
Looking ahead to spring, there are several activities that Christian Education will be sponsoring. Through-
out the month of March, we will be collecting food donations for Food Inc. to help them stock their shelves for
the upcoming Easter holiday. Watch for announcements in church for more details about this project.
In April we will be kicking off a new project that will focus on kindness and performing nice things for
others. We are very excited about this project which will bring our Sunday School classes and congregation to-
gether to reach a shared goal. Stay tuned for more information about this project coming in April.
REPPERTS CANDY SALE Angels of Hope is having their candy sale fundraiser from Feb. 22nd. – March 15th. Please contact

Hello St. Paul’s,
I wanted to say "Thank You" for your care-kit item dona-tions! My daughter and I have been working on sorting and assembling the items for the care-kits that will be do-nated to our veterans of the DC VA Medical Center. Once we finalize the kits I will send you a picture of them before I deliver. Your donations are greatly appreciated by our veterans! Your love and attention towards our veterans is strongly felt through the time and care you have put into your do-nations. Jacqueline and I have had a mission to keep a cer-tain number of care-kits flowing to the DC VAMC every month. We have shed the light on the Emergency Room at the DC VAMC and we make sure a portion of the care-kits are sent directly there for our veterans who unexpectedly are admitted, and who sometimes stay for days or weeks. Thank you so much. In liberty,
Lauren Friedman

MISSIONS COMMITTEE REPORT
Your Mission Committee is finishing a busy 4th quarter in 2014 and preparing for 2015. Our projects are bal-
anced between local and global needs.
November 5, 2014: A community dinner was held in the Fellowship Hall. 65 residents enjoyed a delicious
ham and string bean dinner.
November 17, 2014: The following actions were approved at our monthly meeting.
1. A donation of $250.00 was made to Keystone Military Families located in Shoemakersville. This non-
profit organization was started in 2002 to provide assistance to military families that do not fit into other
organization (U.W.) guidelines. Three years ago, they opened up a food bank, the only one in Pennsyl-
vania for military families. The organization does not have any paid employees. They serve 30-35 fami-
lies per week. Their major project in October, November and December is sending 6,000 Christmas
stocking filled with goodies to the troops in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Korea.
2. Through the generosity of the Women’s Guild, a $1,000.00 donation will be sent to “Samaritan’s
Purse” an organization committed to providing potable water to communities in Africa, Asia and Latin
America.
3. The Mission’s Committee will invite residents of our three senior communities; Saucony Cross, Wilson
Manor and Saucony Meadows to our Christmas Eve service. We will provide transportation to and from
the service.
4. Dave and Keith will work on photos from our mission projects for use on our new website and Sunday
service.
November 19, 2014: We hosted the residents of Wilson Manor (30) to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
This project was a real challenge for us since we needed to supply not only the food, but all the equipment and
accessories, except salt and pepper shakers. We had thirteen volunteers from St. Paul’s that assured the success
of this project. Christmas music was provided by Judy Heffley.
December 13, 2014: We will host the residents of Saucony Cross to a pizza lunch along with a visit from
Santa and Christmas music to be played by Carol Reinhard.
January 24, 2015: Movie Night at St. Paul’s starting at 5:30 pm.
February 4, 2015: We will host the residents of Saucony Meadows with a turkey dinner.
We are exploring potential projects with the college community and Bethany Children’s Home. The Mission’s
Committee welcomes expanded involvement by our members and input to broaden our outreach ministry pro-
grams. We welcome Kathy Landis who recently joined the committee.
March 9, 2015: Our next community dinner will be held at St Paul’s from 5 –6 PM. All our welcome to attend!
March 14, 2015: Movie night at St Paul’s starting at 5:30 pm. Movie TBA.
