ST PAUL’S POST St Paul’s Province Weekly Newsletter: 75 23 April 2018
Our birthday
girls this
week are:
Annette Kelly 26 April
Anna Hainey 27 April
Agnes Marie Joy 29 April
This picture once hung on a wall in one of our convents.
Somehow it made its way to Mary Curtin and Mary wants to
know has it any value. No commercial value, Mary, but it
has other value!
It is a copy of one of a number of sketches da Vinci made in
preparation for his famous painting of the last supper. For
me it has still another value. I think of all the sisters down
the years who, in passing, had their eyes drawn to this face -
perhaps to a moment of recollection; gratitude for what
was; a silent cry for strength; and then going on their way
with a lighter tread. Isn’t this what makes a place or thing
sacred?

prayer
Remember to pray for our upcoming Assembly, 25 April;
Please remember to uphold in prayer those currently
suffering in Syria;
Pray for world peace, especially in view of current political climate.
prayer
Thérèse would like to thank everyone for their support, prayers and
messages of condolence on the death of her Aunt. The funeral in
Ireland was a great occasion to meet up with family and friends not
seen for many years, and a wonderful time to remember together the
life of her Aunt.
Thank You!
Once I knew I was leaving hospital and going to Elmleigh to recuperate, I phoned my family to let
them know and this is the text I received from my youngest brother:
“That’s great news, but don’t let them put you on the
production line too soon – just start with a little light
work, like putting the labels on the cartons, then
progress to stirring the cream in the vats. We know the
Order has to raise funds so making fake cream is as good
a way as any and it keeps the retired nuns active! Just
take it easy at the beginning.”
He later told me that he had this image of a mini industry, with all the retired sisters involved in
making artificial cream, laughing as they stirred cream, made labels, designed cartons etc! And all
because of the name! Pat Carney
To make you !
On Friday last Zarena and Sharon
invited us to the opening of the
"Sensory Garden", here at Lytham.
As Sharon made her speech of welcome,
the opening ribbon was cut by none other
than Her Majesty herself!
We enjoyed refreshments whilst basking
in the glorious sunshine of the afternoon
and admired the various items which
made it a truly sensory garden.
It will remain now during the summer
months and will be a source of joy and
delight for anyone who chooses to
wander through.
A big thank you to our "Activities Chiefs",
Zarena and Sharon.
Eily May C.P.

Sister Sheila MacNally was first to finish the cot cover, which she undertook with great enthusiasm. Sisters Maria and Borgia will soon complete their project.
Marino Knitting Club
Carmel Miley led a ritual in the Sacred Space in the school in Kilcullen
on Friday. This was held in memory of a past pupil, Mary Walsh
Cross, who died last year. Mary was in the class of 1966 and she had
memorabilia from her days in school and her family presented them
to the school on Friday. Many of her classmates attended with the
family members and following the ritual enjoyed supper together.
The event was organised by Nessa Dunlea, who was in Mary's class,
and facilitated by Catherine Moynihan, School Principal.

Last week I received a
telephone call from Sam
at the Mailing Room—the
Mailing Room supplied
the office franking
machine. Sam advised
that I had won the first
prize of £500 in a recent
draw, and asked if he could take a photo of me receiving the cheque
to assist with their promotion work. The flowers were an added
bonus. (photo shows: Sam, Christine, Betty, Savio & Thomas). Savio
