Cannon Paul Stephens in January, he gave them a ten- tative timeline for St. Paul’s search process for our next Rector. Having wrapped up the Parish Survey and met to discuss the results in May, the Search Committee is right on track with the suggested schedule. The committee will meet during June and July to write a Parish Profile, using survey results as a basis to list the gifts and graces desired in a new Rector. The profile, a digital publication, will also have information about St. Paul’s, the Diocese of Mississippi, and the Corinth community, with pictures of church activities and places of interest. What happens after the Parish Profile is published? Once the profile is approved by the Vestry and the Bishopby late summer—our search goes public with postings on St. Paul’s website, and on an Episcopal clergy database and the Episcopal News Service webpage. At that point, the nomination period is open. Members may nominate priests they think would be right for our church. Priests who feel called to St. Paul’s may nominate themselves, and the Bishop will provide a list of priests to be considered by the Search Committee. The candidates may be priests with active roles at other churches. For that reason and oth- ers, the search process is confidential. Search Committee members must keep the congrega- tion updated about the search process without divulging details about individual candidates. Once the nomination process is closed, the committee begins screening candidates , via emails and online conversations to mutually discern who God is calling to be the next Rector at St. Paul’s. After narrowing the list, committee members will travel to hear prospective priests preach at their church or another church where they are guest preaching. Full back- ground checks are conducted, and the final candidate(s) will visit Corinth and St. Paul’s. This visit is as confidential as it can be in a small town where we all know one another. By the end of this year, if the search process goes extremely well, the Search Committee may have a Rector candidate to recommend to the Vestry. If the Vestry approves the nomi- nee, the Senior Warden calls the Bishop, who must give final approval to officially call the candidate to be our next Rector. In consultation with the Bishop, a Letter of Agreement is worked out between the Vestry and the prospective Rector, who may make a second visit to Corinth. As soon as the Letter of agreement is signed, the happy news and name of our new Rector can be shared. A transition committee will plan ways to welcome the new Rector, in- cluding helping with her/his move to Corinth and planning a Celebration of New Ministry. There’s lots to do in the months ahead. Please keep prospective Rector candidates and the Search Committee in your prayers. Yours in Christ, Susan Adams, Search Committee Chair

Pentecost, Sunday June 9th

How goes the Rector search?

Pentecost Service with the Rev. Josh Shipman starts at 9:30am.

Special music will be offered by St. Paul’s choir and handbell choir.

Sign up on the list in the narthex to bring your favorite dish or provide beverages. There’s usually an abundance of food. Plan to stay for lunch and fellowship even if you don’t have time to prepare something to share.

Church Family Life Proud grandmother Ginger Stockton was on hand to welcome her fifth grandchild, Andrew Porter Shillito, to the world in early April. During a trip to Paris with her mother, Laura Finger visited Notre Dame Cathedral just days before

the fire there. Charlotte Icardi is recovering after surgery to repair a broken shoulder. Barbara Barrett is back in action after a mis-step at St. Paul’s resulted in a dislocated shoulder and two broken ribs. Gail Vaughan became the third broken bone casualty in the congregation this spring when she fractured her wrist during a fall in her yard. If the band “St. Paul and the Broken Bones” hadn’t al-ready claimed that name, our church could, after Kristoffer Hughes broke a finger and was seen sporting a splint wrapped in bright blue. Cadance Whitehurst was awarded the 5th Grade Citizenship Award for Alcorn County Middle School plus one for Outstanding Achievement in Social Studies. Susan Adams met up with former St. Paul’s vicar

Tim Jones, wife George, and daughter Mollie in London to cheer on Cynthia Harrell as she ran her sixth and final world Marathon on April 28. Cathy Byars saw son Thomas’s hooding ceremony as he received his Masters of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi in May. Robin and Darlene Grisewood got to visit with family and friends on a trip to New York. Richard Jones ticked Arizona’s Monument Valley off his bucket list with a road trip there with his son. Jean and George Gunn watched their granddaughter Noora Siddiqui graduate from medical school at the University of Alabama, Bir-mingham, May 18. After graduating from Corinth High School on June 9, Grantley Grady, grandson of Glennan and Jan Grady, will attend the University of Alabama majoring in mechanical engineering.

Help to update the Prayer List

Have you added names to the Prayer List published in the Sunday bulletins? Office volunteer Barb Barrett is work-ing on updating the master list. Please read over the list in the bulletin and let Barb know of anyone you’ve added who con-tinues to need our prayers. Also tell her of any names which no longer need to be listed. She knows who to con-tact about names added in the last few months, but would like to have contact informa-tion for names added earlier. Thank you for your concern and for helping us keep the Prayer List current.

Communion Bread Bakers

Thank you to Cynthia Harrell who baked bread for Holy Week and May. Debbie Elam and Hallie-Kate Dierks will bake for June and July.

June

Our Deacon has been reappointed For another year at St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s will be blessed to have Deacon Mary Howard King with us for another year. She will be serving during the long ordinary season ahead, as well as during Advent and Christmas this year, and Lent and Easter 2020. At their April meeting, the vestry unanimously agreed to request Bishop

Seage renew Mary Howard’s appointment to St. Paul’s. They were happy to receive word from the Bishop that he is formally assigning her for another year as Voca-tional Deacon at our church, effective June 1, 2019. During the past year, Mary Howard has ably carried out the charge she was given during her ordination: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are to serve all people, particularly the poor, the weak, the sick, and the lonely. As a deacon in the Church, you are to study the Holy Scriptures, to seek nourishment from them, and to model your life upon them. You are to make Christ and his redemptive love known, by your word and example, to those among whom you live, and work, and worship. You are to interpret to the Church the needs, concerns, and hopes of the world… At all times, your life and teach-ing are to show Christ's people that in serving the help-less they are serving Christ himself.

Adult Sunday Forum begins June 16

Although Sunday School is on summer break, an adult discussion forum will meet on Sundays during that time slot starting June 16. Deacon Mary Howard King and Dr. Tim Inman will lead a conversation-based forum on issues St. Paul’s members listed as topics they would like to discuss. They hope to have guest speakers for some of the topics. This is not a chance to debate. The overarching theme is "how do we respond in love and what does love look like when our views are so different"? The summer schedule includes:
