the kitchen door. He comes several times a
day, waiting to get his dried mealy worms,
which he will come and take from your hand.

After a short illness, Tom Proctor, one of
the first Associates in Middleton, died
on 27th February.
Tom gave many hours of his life reaching
out to others; through his work in the St
Vincent de Paul Society. For many years
he was responsible for the St John Fisher
Church. He made sure the heating was
on, ordered the oil, opened and closed
the Church when needed for Mass and
other services. For this work he was
awarded the Bene Merente. He wore
this medal with pride, together with his
Associate badge.
May Tom rest in peace.
Tom, and his daughter Linda, with his
Bene Merente medal.
John Vianney came over from Dublin to meet with Emily and her photographers from St Gemma’s as she is going to be one of the 40 Faces of St Gemma’s, which is part of the 40 years Celebration.
Francine, as one of the first nurses, took part in a video about the beginnings of the Hospice. We also invited Agnes and Helen, the widow and daughter of Terry, the first patient of St Gemma’s. It was a lovely reunion. Moya was invited for lunch too, as she had been on the Board for many years.
The Universe published a piece about Therese’s speech at the Launch of the Hospice’s 40th Anniversary. It has been sent with this Newsletter as an attachment.

Last week snowdrops, this week
SNOW, and then some! Is it really
Spring?
Carmel sent us some of her photos
to enjoy.
Jesus said: 'I have come that they may have
life - life in abundance'.
He believed that His Father's image shines out
of each person; that each person is the echo
of God's Word - pronounced once and for
ever; a sacred reality, the living image of God.
We are called to recognise the divine flame
that burns in each person's heart, encourage
it, nurture it, bring it to fuller life, especially in
the poor, the sinner, and even in our enemies.
This is the source of our Passionist Spirituality.
Let us have the courage to announce Life.
Jesus' Passion is Passion for Life!"
This morning I was doing some tidying and clearing out in my room and found the following written on a piece of paper inside a booklet which celebrates the centenary of the Passionist Province of Argentina and Uruguay. The introduction was written by Fr Federico Soneira CP, the Provincial at that time (2001). This is my translation of part of the introduction and I'd like to share it with you.

Eco-Congregation is an organisation that encourages churches of all denominations to take an eco approach to worship, lifestyle, property and finance management, community outreach and contact with the developing world.
The vision of Eco Congregation Ireland is to see churches of all denominations throughout Ireland celebrate the gift of God’s creation, recognise the inter-dependence of all creation and care for it in their life and mission and through members’ personal lifestyles.
Christians everywhere are invited to reflect on the beauty of God’s world and to consider what practical steps can be taken to prevent further damage to the environment. Also, to pray for our wounded planet, for people in the developing world already affected by climate change and for future generations.
Each year an award is presented to a group who are working towards this vision. Drumalis have been presented with the 2018 award. They are the first Catholic group to receive it.

Town Councillors, with Sister
Catherine, who presented the
