Oh Divino Maestro, Que no busque yo tanto. Ser consolado como consolar. Ser comprendido como comprender. Ser amado como amar. Porque dando se recibe. Perdonando se es perdonado. Y muriendo a si mismo Se nace a la vida eterna.

Adult Ministry and Faith formation: Because Our Faith is too rich and beautiful to have ever learned it ALL…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected]

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living “The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

Theology on Tap Theology on Tap is a monthly gathering for young adults to meet, connect, and learn about theology. October's guest presenter–set for Tuesday, October 6, – is Fr. Alvaro Interiano, Parochial Vicar at St. Luke the Evangelist, talking about conversion. The Cock and Bull is at 3659 NASA Parkway in Seabrook.

Interested in being Catholic? If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about becoming Catholic, our RCIA program is just the ticket! The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a process of prayer, reflection, and learning that allows for the continual discernment of God's will. Contact Heidi Clark, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected].

Ladies Over 50 Lunch Bunch Ladies of the parish are invited to join our Over 50 Lunch Bunch for our next gathering set for Wednesday, October 14, at 12:30 PM. The group is meeting at Savannah Café and Bakery at the corner of Highway 3 and Clear Lake City Blvd. They are accepting reservations until Monday morning, October 12. Call 281.474.3373 to reserve your spot. They are looking for more ladies to join them!

Prayer Shawl Ministry St. Paul’s prayer shawl ministry meets every other Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM in Parlor A. The next meeting will be October 15. If you knit or crochet, or would like to learn these skills, we invite you to join us. The shawls are provided to those who are ill, isolated, grieving or otherwise in need of being wrapped in our prayers. For more information contact Gail McKnight, 281.844.4659.

Zumba at St. Paul Classes meet in either Beck Hall or Founders Hall, depending on availability.

Thursdays at 6:45 PM Saturdays at 10 AM

Sr. Helen Prejean at St. Paul Sr. Helen Prejean visits St. Paul Monday, October 12, at 7 PM for a presentation entitled: Dead Man Walking: The Journey Continues. By sharing her personal account of working with death row prisoners and witnessing state executions, Prejean hopes to educate the community about the injustice of America’s court systems. Author of the best-selling Dead Man Walking, Prejean was portrayed in the movie by Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon. As the world’s foremost authority against the death penalty, she has actively worked to shape the Catholic Church’s stance on the issue, even to the point of influencing Pope John Paul II to request a revision to the Catholic Catechism. Her presentation is free and open all.

40 Days for Life The national 40 Days for Life movement is taking place now though November 1st. In addition to 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion in America, please join us in prayer at Planned Parenthood on Wednesday, October 28th. OUR PARENTS ROCK!!! After the 1st day of class, one of our new 5th Grade Catechists commented how impressed she was at how much the children knew! I told her that is a credit to the Parents and the parish. Almost 20 years ago the CCE program at St. Paul adopted the focus of “partnering with parents”. Parents in this parish take ownership of the fact that they are the first and primary teachers of the faith. Let’s all keep growing and becoming the best versions of ourselves and challenge our children to do the same!

Early Childhood Program Seeing Children Through The Eyes of God! For information contact: Vicky Kuehnel, Director [email protected] or 281.333.0176

Volume XVIII No. 1806 Twenty Seventh Sunday In Ordinary Time October 4, 2015

A note from Deacon Jerry . . . On September 9, 2015, the Penske Truck was packed with the help of about 100 different parishioners during the preceding weeks. Gloria boarded a plane at 6:05AM bound for Milwaukee and later picked up by her brother to head to Green Bay. Another move! I felt like Abraham, however, I am only 73 and much younger than he was. We moved to Texas, to California, back to Texas and now to Wisconsin. God was moving us, again. Five and a half years earlier we were unpacking the moving truck from California to our home in Houston.

Well, it was time to roll so we were on our way to Green Bay. Mark Drapella and John Crawford were driving the truck while my son Chris and I would follow in the car. Tears were streaming down my cheek as the journey started. All of the wonderful memories of St. Paul’s were flashing through my mind. A community that opened your arms to my wife and I and carried us and our cross many times. It was a great part of our journey in this life. My prayer is that my service for the Lord at St. Paul led people to Him. Be proud, you have done marvelous things for the Lord. He is always with you.

Gloria and I thank all of you very much for all you did to help us make this new journey. Thank you for all of the prayers, gifts, money, beautiful plaque from the Knights of Columbus, the piece of art created by Frank Fraser, the very moving song that was written and sung by David Rofrano, the generosity of all the ACTS members and labor donated at this very busy time. The reception with all of the Packer’s colors was very moving. We told all of our friends and relatives what it means to belong to a great community such as St. Paul.

Our hearts are heavy and miss all of you very much. We are on this new mission with you in our hearts. Our success will be a credit to all of you for preparing us for this journey. Good bye means God be with thee. Our prayer is that all of you receive special blessings from Jesus Christ on your journey.

Deacon Jerry and Gloria Coenen
