Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday's liturgical celebration has a bit

of an identity crisis. It's the 4th Sunday of

Lent. It offers us two options for readings

(Year A or Year C). We also celebrate the 2nd

Scrutiny for the Elect and Candidates who

will receive their Easter sacraments at the

Easter Vigil. And if that is not enough, it is

dubbed "Laetare Sunday," which comes from

the day's entrance antiphon, "Rejoice,

Jerusalem."

With everything that is happening, there is

something for all of us to take in and take

away from our celebration this Sunday. For

the Elect and Candidates, this is a time of

uncovering and revealing of that which needs

to be changed in their lives, so that they may

be strengthened by God's mercy.

For the wider faith community, there is a call

toward joy amidst our prayer, fasting and

almsgiving. This is an invitation to integrate

joy into everything we do. Pray with joy this

week by recognizing the gifts in your life and

offering thanks to God. Fast with joy this

week as you open yourself to the experience

of simplicity. Offer alms with joy this week,

recognizing your simple act of generosity may

bring joy to someone else.

Yes, there is a lot going on and almost too

much to take in. The richness of our

liturgical celebration seems to reflect the

richness of God's mercy. The bounty of our

Sunday worship reflects the bounty of God's

compassion. The joy in our feast reflects the

joy of the Gospel.

God bless you all with abundance of joy.

Fr. Tetzel

Hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

La celebración litúrgica de este domingo tiene

un poco de crisis de identidad. Es el cuarto

domingo de Cuaresma. Nos ofrece dos

opciones para lecturas (Año A o Año C).

También celebramos el segundo escrutinio

para los elegidos y candidatos que recibirán

sus sacramentos de Pascua en la Vigilia

Pascual.

hacemos. Ora con alegría esta semana

reconociendo los dones en tu vida y

ofreciéndole gracias a Dios.
