We are all in this together. Together as one, we have tried our best to look after one another, to protect the vulnerable amongst us, and to ensure the safety of everyone. That’s what we have been doing as one community. Thankfully, so far we are all safe in Emerald and the surrounding areas. Even though we all suffer in many ways, as there are many out there doing it tough, we do not give up. We continue to make sure that everyone’s well-being is ensured. For this, we continue to pray and hope that this pandemic will be over and we will gradually get back to what’s called our “new normal” way of life. In our very own St Patrick’s big family, including our brothers and sisters in Springsure, Rolleston and Anakie, we, the Church, have been trying our best to respond to the spiritual needs of our own people. We have been doing live- streaming masses, being the best possible way for us to connect and stay in touch with our people as one community of faith. Most importantly, we are still able to draw on the grace we need from Jesus in the Eucharist during this trial time. For most of us, I feel that even though we have reached out to many people through our live-streaming mass, we still feel something important is missing. We miss the physical communion with Jesus and with the community. We miss receiving Jesus in communion. We miss our gatherings. We miss being part of our beautiful liturgy during the Eucharistic celebration. We miss our saying hello or how are you to one another. We miss catching up with friends after mass. To make the list short, we miss what’s been most significant part of our faith. Therefore, as we are allowed to have more people in our Church, let’s come back to our mass again in our Church. We welcome you all back to our beautiful Church again which we closed in late March. However, with our new normal, social distancing has become part of our life. Our live-streaming mass have now stopped, and we are encouraged to come back to our mass in Church, where we can encounter Jesus and our loving community in person. The Gospel for the 16 th Sunday of Ordinary Time talks about the Kingdom of God in the parables of the wheat among the weeds, a mustard seed and the yeast. We are reminded again of our connectedness with Jesus’ vision of the Kingdom. No matter how small the beginnings (the seed or the yeast), if we are faithful to the spirit and values of the Kingdom, even though very small, we can make a real influence and big difference on the growth of our community and others. So, together, we can make a difference. Let our new “normal” shape us to be more caring for one another, to be the source of healing for our wounded world caused by Covid-19, and to provide us with the opportunity to share God’s love and generosity to those in need during this time. Have a great Sunday Fr. Yon SVD

WELCOME BACK

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As Church, we are not immune from the impact of the current Covid-19 crisis.

We have been doing live-streaming masses, being the best possible way for us to connect and stay in touch with our people as one community of faith.

The Gospel for the 16th Sunday of Ordinary Time talks about the Kingdom of God in the parables of the wheat among the weeds, a mustard seed and the yeast.

Have a great Sunday

GLORY TO GOD Mass Shalom Colin D Smith and Paul Mason Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Copyright (c) 2010 Willow Publishing Pty Ltd. All rights reserved. One License online. Used with permission. Licence No. 622478-A

FIRST READING Wisdom 12:13, 16-19

A reading from the book of Wisdom In the place of sin, you give repentance.

There is no god, other than you, who cares for everything, to whom you might have to prove that you never judged unjustly. Your justice has its source in strength, your sovereignty over all makes you lenient to all.

You show your strength when your sovereign power is questioned and you expose the insolence of those who know it; but, disposing of such strength, you are mild in judgement, you govern us with great lenience, for you have only to will, and your power is there.

By acting thus you have taught a lesson to your people how the virtuous man must be kindly to his fellow men, and you have given your sons the good hope that after sin you will grant repentance.

The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Lord, you are good and forgiving

O Lord, you are good and forgiving, full of love to all who call. Give heed, O Lord, to my prayer and attend to the sound of my voice. R.

All the nations shall come to adore you and glorify your name, O Lord: for you are great and do marvellous deeds, you who alone are God. R.

But you, God of mercy and compassion, slow to anger, O Lord, abounding in love and truth, turn and take pity on me. R.

SECOND READING Romans 8: 26*27

A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans The Spirit himself pleads for us in a way that could never be put into words.

The Spirit comes to help us in our weakness. For when we cannot choose words in order to pray properly, the Spirit himself expresses our plea in a way that could never be put into words, and God who knows everything in our hearts knows perfectly well what he means, and that the pleas of the saints expressed by the Spirit are according to the mind of God.

The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL Matthew 13: 24-30

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew Let them grow together until the harvest.

Jesus put a parable before the crowds, 'The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off. When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, the darnel appeared as well. The owner's servants went to him and said, "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field? If so, where does the darnel come from?" "Some enemy has done this" he answered. And the servants said, "Do you want us to go and weed it out?" But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pull up the wheat with it. Let them both grow till the harvest; and at harvest time I shall say to the reapers: First collect the darnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn."'

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

THE NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen

PEACE IS FLOWING LIKE A RIVER Rev. Carey Landry Glory & Praise Vol 1:39

Peace is flowing like a river, flowing out of you and me. Flowing out into the desert, setting all the captives free. His love is flowing like a river, flowing out of you and me. Flowing out into the desert, setting all the captives free. His healing’s flowing like a river, flowing out of you and me. Flowing out into the desert, setting all the captives free. MIGHTY LORD John Foley. Glory & Praise Vol 2:120

The Lord is dawn in darkness, he is light for day. He knows our weakness, yet he walks our ways, He is steady love to ev'ry creature that lives, He is mighty Lord.

Refrain: For he is mighty Lord, God of all, He is love and Lord of us all. For he is mighty Lord, God of all, He is love and Lord of us all.

And let the heavens praise him in the sun and moon. Let stars give thanks to Him at night and noon. Praise him, all the earth, the mountains, the hills and the trees, He is mighty Lord.

O serve the Lord with gladness, serve the Lord with song: And know he made us, He has loved us long. He is steady love and He alone is our God, He is mighty Lord. Copyright (c) North American Liturgy Resources. All rights reserved..
