    What is the Bishop’s Appeal?

The Bishop’s Appeal is a stewardship opportunity for each of us to reach out

to thousands of people in search of Jesus’ love. Each gift given supports the

ministries of the Diocese of Green Bay which serve our parishes, Catholic

schools and communities. Your gift truly helps bring the heart and hands of

Christ to our children, young adults, families and neighbors here in

    northeastern Wisconsin.

Pray about HOW YOU can help make a difference!

    Bishop’s Appeal Kick-Off

  • PASTORAL LEADER’S NOTES Dear Parishioners,

This weekend the Bishop’s Appeal 2019 begins in parishes across our diocese with the theme of “Missionaries of Hope.” Being a missionary of hope means standing in witness to the love of Jesus, a love which is faithful even in the midst of rejection and disappointment. It means looking at the real challenges people face in our world today and trusting that God is right there, waiting to bring healing and restoration and new life.

The funds raised in this annual campaign are used without exception, to support the ministries and programs of our Diocese. This includes: • training teachers and catechists to help our young people learn what it means to be a

missionary disciple • providing workshops and classes for our parishioners to deepen their life of discipleship • ministering to the sick and the homebound, to those in prison and to families struggling

emotionally and financially When you make a gift to the Bishop’s Appeal you join with the people of our diocese in bringing hope to many families in northeastern Wisconsin, a hope that our world desperately needs right now.

Please take time this week to pray about

how you will respond to this year’s Bishop’s Appeal!

Mary Jane Oliver was an American poet who

won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer

prize. In 2007 the New York Time described her

as “far and away, this country’s best-selling poet.”

She died recently on January 17.

Here are two of her quotes that I will always

remember: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

“Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”

And here’s one of her poems that I like: Praying It doesn’t have to be

the blue iris, it could be

weeds in a vacant lot, or a few

    small stones; just

    pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try

to make them elaborate, this isn’t

    a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which

another voice may speak. —Mary Oliver

    Sr. Pam

This Thursday, February 7, St. Mary, Winneconne, will be hosting the “Free Community Supper” at the First Presbyterian Church. This bi-monthly event began four years ago when the leaders of the First Presbyterian Church, Lord of the Lakes and St. Mary Church wanted to find a way for our community to get to know each other and learn more about the happenings in our village of Winneconne. Bring your family, your neighbor or a friend and come and join us at 5:30pm this Thursday for a delicious meal of shepherd’s pie, salad, rolls and ice cream sundaes for dessert.

At 6:15pm, our guest speaker, Cathie Ercegovac, will be sharing what she does as a first responder.

Don’t miss this evening of sharing and learning with our local community!!!
