Music from St. Mark’s is supported by the generosity of individuals and entities who believe strongly in the power of music as transformative and vital to our community. We welcome your support, joining others at the following levels:
Sponsors | $5,000+ Sustaining Members | $1,000–$4,999
Angel | $500–$999
Benefactor | $100–$499
Patron | $50–$99
Donor | $25–$49
Greetings!
For centuries music has continued to serve an intrinsic role in worship, mirroring the spoken word and Eucharist to create a prayerful and transcendent experience.
Like the Holy Eucharist, music feeds our souls and draws our faith community into deeper prayer and spirituality. I am delighted to announce our 2019–2020 music season, offering a variety of repertoire spanning Gregorian chant, Anglican Cathedral repertoire, and living composers. Our beautiful gothic space and Austin/Kegg pipe organ greatly enhance the communal experience in Sunday Eucharist, Choral Evensong, special liturgies, and concerts.
In addition, Saint Mark’s space also provides a wonderful setting for performers from our local community, universities,
and around the globe. All are welcome and warmly invited to enjoy the musical offerings this season.
The Saint Cecilia Series is made possible through the generous contributions of members and music supporters in San Antonio. Your contribution allows Saint Mark’s to sustain a broader artistic and spiritual outreach to the community.
Sincerely,
Jon JohnsonOrganist and Choirmaster
Grace and Peace to You!
It is wonderful to be able to share with you our plans for Music from St. Mark’s for the coming year.
The St. Mark’s community has a Core Vocation to Feed San Antonio With the Bread of Life. This undergirds all of our ministry and reminds us that as a faith community we are called beyond ourselves. We do this by being a transformational presence in our city, feeding those who long for something that feeds their souls. Music allows us to experience beauty in a special way. The part of our Core Vocation that longs to feed and be fed by beauty and creativity is particularly manifest in our music program. These offerings invite you to gather and experience the healing power of beauty. Regardless
of our different beliefs and experiences, music unites us through a shared experience. We have been able for many years to provide this free of charge to our community and, thanks to the ongoing generosity of St. Cecilia Guild, this continues. I hope you will join us and invite your friends! We pray it is a blessing to you!
Peace,
The Rev. Elizabeth C. KnowltonRector

Choral PilgrimageAmerican Cathedral | Paris St. Paul’s Cathedral | London
The Choirs of St. Mark’s have a long tradition of offering the gift of music in sacred spaces beyond San Antonio and are pleased to announce their next pilgrimage in 2021. The journey will begin with Choral Eucharist at the American Cathedral in Paris on Sunday July 25 followed by a weeklong residency, July 26– August 1, at iconic St. Paul’s Cathedral in the heart of London.
We invite you to watch our digital spaces for ways you can support the Choirs as we begin preparations for our next journey!
