Lord, Hear our Prayer.

Please Pray For:

Proceed with Prayer

O St. Laurence, generous servant of the Church and deacon of God’s people, most loving patron of our parish, inspire our hearts with your total and coura-geous love for Christ. Encourage us, and intercede that we too give away our lives, little by little, toward the advancement of the Church’s mission and the spiritual health of our parish. Help us not to fear the cost of discipleship, but focus with faith on the glorious effects of your grace in our lives. St. Laurence, pray for us!

We all agree that caring for others is important. Abso-lutely no one wants to see a child waste away from starvation. And yet, we often fear to donate time, talent, or money to charita-ble causes. What if recipients use the money poorly? What if donations promote helplessness and long-term dependence? What if my own situation isn’t very stable? How can I help others when my daily life is so difficult and the future so uncertain? These are legitimate questions. And God wants us to use our intellect when discerning how best to perform good deeds. But uncertainty must not lead to inaction. If we don’t know exactly how to proceed, we must spend a great deal of time in prayer. In prayer, we consider our options and ask the Lord to show us how to be salt and light in the world. As today’s psalm reminds us, God calls us to be gracious and merciful. Believing firmly that God will always care for us, we trust with steadfast hearts and share with others—not occasionally, guiltily, or provisionally, but “lavishly.”

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to they protection, implored they help, or sought thy inter-cession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother, to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in they mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

WE ARE IN NEED OF HELP. The Heavenly Dusters, a group of dedicated parishioners who serve our Parish by cleaning the Church every week, is asking for volunteers to help with their efforts. The group meets every Friday, immediately following the 8 am morning Mass to dust, vacuum, polish, sweep, etc. so that the rest of us enjoy a clean and tidy worship space for our weekend Liturgies. The Heavenly Dusters reduce our parish’s operational expenses by thousands of dollars per year and we are most thankful for their sacrifice. As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work.”. Are you available for ½ hour, 45 minutes per week on Friday mornings? If so, your help would be most welcome. Contact the parish office @ 847-468-6900 for more information.

This will be in the cafeteria during regular class time for those in second year confirmation preparation now. Those who completed confirmation prep-aration last spring should come between 9:30 and 10:30 am. Please bring any missing paperwork. Contact Thomas O'Leary, DRE, if you have questions.

As Illinois State Scholars, these students represent approximately the top ten percent of high school seniors from 726 schools across the state. You should all be very proud that 6 of these 9 students originat-ed from Elgin Deanery schools. Please share this inspiring news about their academic success with your school families and par-ish communities in your weekly newsletters and church bulletins.
