Charles Nguyen, M.D., DFAPACharles Nguyen, M.D., is currently a ClinicalProfessor at the University of California (UC),Irvine School of Medicine and Staff Psychiatristat the Mental Health Care Group at the VeteransAffairs Long Beach Healthcare System. Dr.Nguyen earned his medical degree from UCIrvine, where he also completed his psychiatrytraining. He served as Chief Resident in the final

year of his residency. Dr. Nguyen designed the Win-Nguyen Dietwhich focuses on four simple diet changes to decrease weightgain often associated with antipsychotics.

Gerald A. Maguire, M.D., DFAPAGerald A. Maguire, M.D., is Professor of ClinicalPsychiatry and the Kirkup Endowed Chair inStuttering Treatment in the Department ofPsychiatry as well as Senior Associate Dean forMedical Education at the University of California,Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine. Dr. Maguireearned his medical degree from St. LouisUniversity School of Medicine in 1991. He

completed his residency in Psychiatry at UCI from 1991 to 1995,where he was Chief Resident his final year. Dr. Maguire is aDistinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association(DFAPA). Dr. Maguire is listed in the “Best Doctors in America” andas an “Orange County Physician of Excellence” as recognized by his peers.

John D. Preston, Psy.D., ABPPJohn D. Preston, Psy.D., ABPP, is ProfessorEmeritus with Alliant International University,Sacramento and formerly on the faculty of UCDavis School of Medicine. Dr. Preston hasauthored 21 books addressing psychotherapy,mood disorders, PTSD, neurobiology,psychopharmacology and spiritual aspects ofemotional healing and psychotherapy. He is the

co-author of: Loving Someone with Bipolar Disorder, Take Chargeof Bipolar Disorder, Bipolar 101 and Handbook of ClinicalPsychopharmacology for Therapists. Dr. Preston has presentedtalks in the USA, Canada, Europe, Africa and Russia and hasreceived the Mental Health Association’s President’s Award forcontributions to the mental health community.

Yujuan Choy, M.D.Yujuan Choy, M.D., is a staff psychiatrist at the UC IrvineCounseling Center and also has a part-time Irvine-based privatepractice in general adult psychiatry. Before joining UC Irvine in2006, Dr. Choy completed her undergraduate degree atSwarthmore College, medical education at Cornell University,psychiatry residency at NYU/Bellevue Hospital, and post-doctoralresearch fellowship training in Anxiety Disorders at ColumbiaUniversity. She has published in the area of anxiety disorders inpeer review journals and recently in UpToDate (a physician on-lineresource).
